Delta has to comply with the 74 to 79 hour TLV for the year. If we did not give them this LOA, the were not going to be able to comply with the TLV for the year in the MD-88 category. The LOA gives them relief from this for those three months.

They still have to comply for the rest of the year. That does not mean they immediately have to have a lower ALV for the months following the LOA. The lower ALV can come later in the year to offset a high ALV now. I wouldn't expect it to go down until most everyone is trained and/or the summer is over.

This is my understanding of it. I could be wrong but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!:D

Why have a contract if all that is going to happen is DALPA to agree to a LOA that negates it?

I'm no where near an expert on these matters, but I get that they needed relief from the contract via an LOA for the 88B ALV. But being simple minded as I am I see ALV for Apr being 82; the same as it was for Mar, which was the last month the LOA allowed for the change.

Again, I don't know all the ramifications of a set ALV, but doesn't having a lower ALV result in more trips falling into open time? My schedule shows "Max Reserve" as 82 hours (same as ALV, so I'm guessing that's how Max Reserve is determined). If my Max Reserve were 77 instead and a regular line holder were given an ALV of 77, wouldn't that likely result in more trips being available for premium pay via green slips for pilots in the category?

That way the company would pay their pilots for the relief from the contract as well as get the flying they need out of them. Or does TLV over ride everything? If so, get an LOA for relief from TLV. Give and take, right? Well, even if it is all give for us at this point, my complaint right now is that we're giving even after having agreed to give for what's in the LOA. If they're going to continue to to assign an ALV that's outside what the PWA allows then what's the point of LOA 20?

As long as you don't go through ATL, nobody cares.:D

Going back to the MD90 thing, I don't really have a moment to look back and see the last update on this thread but I did notice China Eastern (the supposed source for the extra MD90s beyond the 3 from Hello) is on the schedule to come in tomorrow and evaluate the MD90 sim. So, I guess that unless they're coming in to make sure our pilots are well trained and will take good care of the airplanes they sold us that they're coming in to evaluate training here and will continue to hold those 90s.

Maybe we're swapping the sim for the airplanes?

Don't worry, it will be down more than 300 before the week is over.

Atl Crash Pad

For all those that will be or are going to be displaced to ATL give me a call. I have a very nice new crash pad off of Virginia Ave. No need for a car and I provide everything except soap and shampoo. The house is a 4 year old, 3 bedroom 3 bath house that is walking distance to the hotel shuttles , and is very clean. I have a 50 inch flat screen TV, Xbox, Cable Tv, High speed wireless internet. Everyone gets there own bed and there is bunking of the beds and no hot sheeting. I do not ask for a deposit, only that you give me 30 days notice. I am charging $250/ month. If you are interested give me a call or shoot me and email.
