Hi Guys,
Not to pick at a scab...but I have to share this interchange today. I'm at my son's little league game chatting with a guy who says he's a FNWA pilot. I ask him, "so what do you think about the merger?" He says, "it sucks!" I ask him why. He says he took a pay cut. I say "how so? You got a raise?" He says, "yeah, I did, but my guarantee went down from 75 to 70 hours." I say, "so, you're getting paid more to fly less? How does that suck?" He says nothing. My question to my new FNWA brothers and sisters...is that what you guys think? Because we have a whole 'nother mindset. I'm proud to have you all with me. Why the angst? |
Lets work together to fix the cost of health insurance, the bidding program, call in honest, sick leave and the jump seat program.

But on the other hand I think most are truely happy to be DAL (except for the hat :D). I for one am very excited about our future as a combined company I only hope we don't fall from glory like AA and United when they were king. |
I for one can't believe your story.
A pilot who found something to complain about? Impossible! |

I spoke to DALPA today about this. I was told that the company's obligation is to SLOWLY ramp down the ALV. In other words, it will not drop back to normal in one month. The person at the other end of the phone said that the company was :17 minutes above what they should, but that DALPA wasn't going to make a mountain out of a molehill. At least, that's how I thought it was portrayed to me.

As a north guy I hope that DALPA learns we have a contract and DAL management needs to abide by it. Whether it's 17 minutes or 16 airplanes it's time to hold management to what has been agreed upon!
The Company is authorized to use an adjusted value of the published ALV for the January, February and March 2009 bid periods for the purpose of TLV calculations. Section 3 states:This LOA will become effective on its date of signing and will remain in effect until the end of the March 2009 bid period. I don't see anything in there about "slowly" ramping down. The ALV for Apr is 82. The ALV for Mar was 82. Why isn't DALPA enforcing compliance with the LOA? Don't they follow up on this stuff and ensure LOAs are complied with? Is there another LOA out there that I'm unaware of? |

Gunship,
Delta has to comply with the 74 to 79 hour TLV for the year. If we did not give them this LOA, the were not going to be able to comply with the TLV for the year in the MD-88 category. The LOA gives them relief from this for those three months. They still have to comply for the rest of the year. That does not mean they immediately have to have a lower ALV for the months following the LOA. The lower ALV can come later in the year to offset a high ALV now. I wouldn't expect it to go down until most everyone is trained and/or the summer is over. This is my understanding of it. I could be wrong but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!:D |
