I think I just worked for crappy companies.

I love DGS guys at Delta. Training is absolutely awesome experience.
The egos are in check, they have seen it all, happy to be there and they do a good job especially if they can work only 10 sessions a month.

BUT I do agree with protecting the seniority list jobs idea.
Active pilots should teach, but maybe ... part time? Stay away from overworking. The box and golden handcuffs could do bad things to you.

I think there is bad apples in every group. I will say the best instructor I have ever had is a DGS 767 guy who was retired Delta. However, I am sure their is a ton of instructor talent on the active list!

When you deal with ground workers you often assume they are Delta. Most of the time they are not. They belong to DSS or DGS and don't make near as much as Delta employees did on the same jobs. The fact Delta was non union allowed them to pull this off. It started in the mid nineties. Big cost savings to the company and they keep some control over the quality. Thousands of loyal Delta employees however lost their jobs in the transition. I am sure they would love to do the same thing with pilot jobs!

So they're not bringing them on to mainline? :( I'm more then familar with outsourced rampers. I guess they're just going to give them jobs at DGS. :(

DGS or or its new regional sister.

Look at old pictures of people who were out of work during the Great Depression. What were they dressed in? By and large, we find them dressed to the nines, even to stand in a bread line. It has everything to do with respect for others and yourself. And it shouldn't have anything to do with matters of pay, pension losses, and declining quality of life. After all, who are you getting back at by leaving off the hat? It ultimately comes back to you.

Now I truly hope that you take the points I make at face value, and that they are not specifically targeted towards anybody. You have everything to gain by maintaining the appearance of the consummate professional pilot, no matter what. It is good. And good goes around :D

Who the heck let Dickson find out about this place? Dang, Now we all have to change the secret code word and password for club access.

I think I keep hearing that more and more.

Keep hearing WE want to combine the best of both airlines, and will pick the best of either system. After careful deliberation we decided the best way is the.....DAL way. Thanks for your input :)

Who are you? My gawd boy, wasting your new guy posts on UNIFORM issues? There are much bigger fish to fry lad.

The topic was brought up by someone else and I wanted to put in my two cents. There is a lot to talk about but I don't want to discuss them on a public forum. I mostly prefer to read.

Nawwwwww, come on......it don't work that way! You're out of the closet now so your lurking days are over. Chime in, we're all friends here.......even after all the SLI debates. Someday, we're even going to have an APC reunion, only APC name tags used:D

Anyway, welcome aboard new guy. Sorry if I was ahhhhhh short. It is a great layover in HNL and I was guilty of PWD.

See ya around the board hat boy :D <--------see you really are one of the guys now.

Hey guys and girls,

I think someone covered this on an earlier post but I couldn't find it. How can I access other carriers zed fares on the DeltaNet? I looked. I know there's a link somewhere but I just came off a red eye and I'm zonked.

Thanks,
Buzz

Go up to the search function on the right side of DALnet. Type in Zed fares. About 30 articles come up. Look at the first and second ones. The others are from 2006.We have added a lot of OAL's since then.

FWIW you need to buy the tickets at the ticket counter at the airport. The agents are normally not to happy about that.

Also, take the ZED ticket guide for agents with you. You can get it from the travel net page, News & Info page. On the right side of the webpage under INTERLINE TRAVEL, click the ZED Tickets link. There you will find the ZED Ticketing Guide For Agents. Print it up and take it with you, so you have something to give them when they say they don't know how to do it.
