Flightline is trying to get customers for the expense report from former NW guys. They are giving the first one free to former NW in hopes they will come back in years to follow.
This is a GREAT product! I've used it for years and it has saved me a good deal of money. Well worth the money and I believe you can write it off too!!

Noticed an "L" before the flight numbers in my next rotation display. Turns out there is OE going on, and I'm probably going to get the boot off my rotation.
What are the chances scheds will call with the new plan before I have to commute (prior to 12 hours out from report)?
Since it's a morning trip, I go up the night before, so I'll have to spend the night no matter what.

If it is an OE, chances are slim that they will call you for something different. If either pilot sicks out or can't make it for some reason, you are still there to cover. You are supposed to show up for the trip as normal and then the LCA has the option to release you from the trip or take you along. I don't know about any recovery obligations. I don't think there are any but I'm not sure.
Best thing is to call the union and see what your obligations are.

Most of the guys I know use prodiem for figuring the M&IE deductions. I like peodiem because he has a long established relationship with the IRS regarding form 2106 allowances. He has a widget for each different airline to automatically download all your time cards/rotation info via iCrew. Highly recommended. I think this is who flightline is trying to steal business from.

This year I was paid $5500 in PerDiem and had $10,148 in expenses according to the IRS. Wrote off $4664 on form 2106 just for layover expenses. Also used Tax Act this year instead of Turbo Tax and filed my federal taxes and two state returns for less than $30....works just as good as Turbo Tax for about $100 less and about $300 less than an accountant who would just use the same program.

Yup this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Some things you can be released in advance, and if that is the case, skeds will usually do it. If that is not the case, you have to show up, and the LCP can release you. Why Nu wouldn't want to go on the rotation with me is baffling.


I download my Time Card each month and then the Flight Time Log for each trip and save them into Microsoft One Note. Takes less than 5 minutes once per month and gives you a record of your layovers plus flight time. In January during a long layover when it is snowing outside and your tired of watching Glenn Beck, download the Meals and Entertainment spreadsheet from the IRS site and spend about 30 minutes inputing the expenses for each layover. Add it up, plug it into Tax Act and your done for free.

Question... I have a rotation tomorrow that shows up on my monthly schedule a number after it, ( like this .2399 2). Can't find anything on the rotation that explains the number 2. Any ideas?
