Does anyone know how RAW score is computed and/or what is the formula?

It's based on a very complex synthesis of dart board, Ouija board, roulette wheel and the throwing of the bones of a hairless kitten. Only a few who have been to the mountaintop high above Virginia Avenue have actually been allowed to see just how these various devices are used, and at precisely which intervals. I'm sure newK is one who has been given access....but I've never met anyone else who lived to tell the secret.
But come on, it's far simpler than that. BB had us do these calculations over and over again for the scheduling guys on the 4th floor during indoc. We'd go down to the 1st floor between the simulators and they'd give us a schedule and we'd try to figure out what their raw was then someone would walk it back up to the 4th floor and they'd check it and then enter it into the DBMS. In fact, if its not new hires doing it it's interns. They preferred to have us doing it since we're pilots and all very bright, great attitudes and regular eager beavers. Eventually, we forgot the formula and opted to assign everyone 11 pts per each day they worked. If it looked like an awful day, 11.5 pts. If it wasn't a whole day... 10 pts. If they just deadheaded... 7 pts. We really just pulled the numbers out of our rear end area. I will find a picture for that shortly. “Reserve assignment weighting” (RAW) means a value assigned to a reserve pilot that is based on his accumulated credit in a bid period and his CROC days in a bid period. A reserve pilot’s RAW is used to sequence him for assignment to open time. Such value will be calculated using the following formula, rounded to the nearest integer: Reserve assignment weighting = [(A ÷ C) x 75] + [(B ÷ D) x 100], where: A = the reserve pilot’s credit hours accumulated in the bid period plus prorated credit hours associated with his period of unpaid absence and/or vacation and/or training (other than qualification or distributed training), if any. The number of prorated hours associated with his period of unpaid absence and/or vacation and/or training (other than qualification or distributed training) will be determined by multiplying the number of days of his unpaid absence and/or vacation and/or training (other than qualification or distributed training) by the reserve guarantee and then dividing that product by 30 or 31 (days of the bid period). B = the reserve pilot’s CROC days plus prorated CROC days associated with his period of absence other than sick leave, if any (e.g., vacation, training, MLOA, PLOA). The number of prorated CROC days associated with his period of absence other than sick leave will be determined by multiplying the number of days of his absence by 18 (oncall days per bid period) and then dividing that product by 30 or 31 (days of the bid period). C = the reserve guarantee. D = number of on-call days in a full month of reserve. |

Heyas T,
Thanks. Just to be clear, if the LCA sez "seeya", and I haven't heard from scheduling, I'm on the next boat home, free and clear without having to call anyone, correct? Nu True dat.... (somebody has to call skeds and let 'em know you've been released though.. usually the LCP's job.. but I delegate cause I'm lazy.. like that Jabbar fella) |
Just wanted to say I ran into some new hire FAs in the airport hotel in Atlanta this morning while getting some Starbucks. Yea for whoever is interviewing them, that's all I'll say.

Had a few new hire FA's on the bus today on the way in to the airport. Smart, energetic and decent looking. Of course when I asked where they were based, they stated, NYC and DTW....
