No way, I am assigning you the task. If you have the guts, call up Richard Anderson's office, arrange an appointment, fly down to Atlanta and ask him face to face. Report back with your results. If you have the guts.
Heyas ACL,
We DO all hope that they get their single carrier status. What WAS in the contract is not really relevant.
In any event, a SC determination may or may not produce a problem for DAL with regards to section 1.
1) First we need the ALPA types to determine whether or not such a entity DOES violate section 1.
2) If so, then THEY need to decide if they want to do anything about it
3) If they do decide what they want to do something about it, they need to decide what.
4) At any point, you can bet the company will disagree with ALPA's interpretation, and say "grieve it", which may lead to an ALPA cave-in on any number of levels.
5) Even if you get as far as a grievace settlement, lawsuit award or whatever, that leads to the removal of REP aircraft from the DAL property, no big deal, as the room in section 1 that is created by the removal of the REP jets will simply allow another carrier to step in with replacement jets, probably within days of the award.
So you see, given the past performance, a SC determination leading to aircraft removed from the property means nothing in the long run.
You could, of course, as as part of the grievance settlement to reduce the number of permitted airframes, but good luck with that. You couldn't get the MEC to buy off on that, let alone the company.

You and I are of one mind on this. If allowed to slide after the determination of single carrier status, there is absolutely nothing that alpa can offer that I want...NOTHING.

You have to get him on the negotiating committee first.
However, the inference of your post is that we must give up to gain something else. In which case I was entirely correct that you would appear, and say just that.
Which you have. Quod erat demonstrandum.

Err, drinking from the river water again? You know it caught fire once, right? What is it exactly that you wish me to ask of him?

Go down to Atlanta and ask Richard Anderson for a pay raise. Fill in the amount yourself. Let me know how it works out for you. I truly don't believe you have the guts to do it. I believe you are just an internet hero that talks big behind a keyboard. So please prove me wrong, go get me a pay raise and let me know when I can pick up my check.
Or are you going to QED that you are nothing but hot air behind a keyboard?
Are you joking? You say I am going to defend the status quo and I merely ask you to change the status quo. Now you somehow turn it around to you were right. Where did I infer that you have to give up to gain? In your mind? What a crock.

Seriously, are you legit? Questioning whether someone has the guts? What guts do you think it takes?
1. Ask RA so he can say no thereby galvanizing the pilots.
2. The MEC Chair is elected so he can represent the pilots from a jail cell if necessary... Not so he can smoke cigars with Congress people. Ditto for The ALPA prez. The fact that you and they see it differently is part of the problem.
I wish our MEC had the guts to try HARD to get us a midcontract raise to SWA parity. That would set up UCAL for greatness and then a better raise for DAL pilots in 2012.
You are such an apologist I just dont think you have any idea how out of touch you really are.

I must be missing something here, I have on occasion asked much harder questions to Flag officers and OSD personnel, some who can be very intimidating, in question and answer sessions. I don't know about flying down to ATL just to talk to Richard, but whats the big deal about respectfully asking the following in an Q & A session with Richard:
"We understand the financial pressures that were present during BK, but now that DAL is making record profits, in no small part due to the great contribution of Delta Pilots, how about a mid-contract pay-raise?"
I don't see why you consider this such a bold move - I am pretty sure Richard wouldn't even bat an eye, and that he already has a canned answer for such questions such as:
"We greatly appreciate the tremendous efforts of all of the Delta team, and thus were especially proud to offer the recent record profit sharing payouts."
I don't foresee this tactic as getting us anything, but I also have no idea what the whole "guts" thing is about.

And it's not just the contract, but the whole way DALPA does business.
Of course I turned it around. Of course I am correct, because I am correct...your whole sorrid posting history here is on record for this kind of thing.
The only question in MY mind is if you get paid to do it. Could you be one of those "special project guys" that gets a call to "come in for a month of ALPA work" from your buddies....at full FPL, plus override, of course.
And as for being an "Internet Hero"...well, of course! Seen my pic?
