Not to interrupt anything, but this just in:
RAH to add 8 E170s to the Delta CPA
Planes are pulled from the Frontier operation
Contract duration 6 years...

Is it a 202 number that calls you? I get a lot of 202 number calls. Never a message.
I think RAH supposedly has a pretty hard core scope section. They even furloughed pilots in 02 or 03 to get it. Odd isn't it?
touche.
To add what Satchip had mentioned, if an airline truly wants to not just improve D-0 but have a real clue as to what's going on then here is the information they need to gather:
1. Jetway door closed.
2. Main cabin door closed.
3. All cabin doors closed.
4. All cargo doors closed.
5. When whatever door used for last minute bags was re-opend and then closed.
6. When the plane moved.
But from what I know, the IT department is swamped. If you're IN MANAGEMENT and you have a surefire way to make the customers life easier via delta.com, submit it and in a year or so it may happen. That's how it was for my wife at Bellsouth, a year plus for IT to do something that should've been done yesterday.
Maybe it's time to lift the hiring freeze if thats still in place or subcontract out parts of IT... I mean, whats good for the goose is good for the gander right? Or what works on the goose will work on the gander...

Wow I missed a fun night on the forums. Work work work. It's all I do these days.
Heck, I'll go ask RA for a raise. The problem is my knees aren't worn out enough to get elected to the negotiating committee and I'm not sure if they can take that much abuse after my football days. I wonder if there is a better way?
Apparently the next ACARS upload is going to have sensors for all the doors... right now DAL south acars (go figure) have no clue what is going on with the cargo doors.
That latest D-0 memo made me throw up a bit in my mouth. Seeing people with the "big picture" lose sight of it so bad makes my hairline that is slowly receding increase it's rate.

Seriously, are you legit? Questioning whether someone has the guts? What guts do you think it takes?
1. Ask RA so he can say no thereby galvanizing the pilots.
2. The MEC Chair is elected so he can represent the pilots from a jail cell if necessary... Not so he can smoke cigars with Congress people. Ditto for The ALPA prez. The fact that you and they see it differently is part of the problem.
I wish our MEC had the guts to try HARD to get us a midcontract raise to SWA parity. That would set up UCAL for greatness and then a better raise for DAL pilots in 2012.
You are such an apologist I just dont think you have any idea how out of touch you really are.

This opportunity can provide:
1. New Dalpa leadership can shock its members with by showing some brass ones. Something most of us have not seen in a LONG time, as evidenced by all the union apologists on this thread who are always trying to manage expectations.
2. Forces RA to come up with a quotable response that will be immortalized on 12000 morale stickers, galvanizing the pilot group towards our common PWA 2012 goals.
3. Educates a very large group of pilots that are "content" and ignorant of what the rest of the industry is doing. I still fly with guys who think SWA makes less than us, and B6 guys get fired after 5 years; making $80K in the left seat of an Airbus. Their response to facts...." well, don't believe everything you read on the internet..."
Unbelievable, I know, but unfortunately reality for some who are armed with a vote.

100% of pilots polled believe 1 NYC Chief Pilot is responsible for 20% of Delta's decline in D-0. The stories about him may have been exaggerated with each retelling, but they've certainly taken hold.
Every other operator I've flown for wanted beacon on as part of the pushback checklist when READY to push. Waiting for actual push, no wait, ok to push, tail south, I mean north, hey Delta the road is blocked now, oh sorry man - forgot about you, wait, hold, push, clearance costs this airline D-0. It also results in the "late completion of checklist" code since the gate has no idea what you are waiting on. I've been a pilot for 29 years and can't figure out when exactly to turn the beacon on. This inability has resulted in my pre-brief expressing my limitations to the Captain, "hey Boss, your switch."
The other problem I've never understood is how sometimes, there is someone working ramp who simply can't communicate and can't remember a tail number, or a sequence. If any operational position in the company is critical to on time performance, it is the ramp controller. The candidates for that job should be ex-professional card counters.
I know the airline does not want times going over block and actually having to pay the crews for working airplanes full of people, but they can't have it both ways.

Why are you guys getting so spun up over D-0? How many times has a flight ever been delayed because of us? It is not your job to go throw luggage... seat passengers... etc etc... why worry about it? The ONLY thing of concern that I can personally think of that might be of concern would be non revs... but other than that.. wot, me worry? When the jet is ready, we will turn on the light, and off we go.

We have a bargaining agent who represents us. We do not have the legal ability to negotiate except for through our exclusive agent.
A better strategy (if you want to be effective and not just engage in web board taunts) is to start targeting those within your representative's structure who are not representing you as you would like. Starting with communication and potentially ending with a recall attempt.

A little point about letting frustration boil over into negotiating with Delta management individually (even if not entirely serious).
