To add to this... We had a guy on the jumpseat yesterday that had the FAA on his jumpseat the day before and the FAA guy told him we had signed for 60 320's...

Coincidence? Don't bark at me, just passing it along..

RUMOR ALERT.....

Talked to a Delta mini-bus Captain heading off to recurrent today. He said rumors over in the 320 camp are stating a multi-billion dollar airbus order coming up, consisting of putting new engines and IFE systems in our current small busses, ordering over 100 new 320/319s, and up to 40 A330s. Airbus also wants to try to slip some A350s in there too as a part of the deal, maybe taking away some of those newer A330s. No 321s unless they put more powerful engines on them. That's what he said, and he also stated he loved the bus, and planned to stay on it forever.

The hits keep on rolling. I'm sure this is going to send fuel prices higher.

NewK, please put a stop to this madness. I'm tired of reserve.

One would think the extrapolated trend line would lead to something we could only have dreamed about. An overly long 737 and a re engined A 320 is a sad testament to all we have lost. This is the best we can come up with? That just reeks of fail.

I agree but you left out one thing, along with the Convair 880, 747, 727, Concorde and the DC9. And not just any DC9, the DC9 in the hands of Newk...

Probably those cool planes existed when gas was cheap? Now instead of airplanes with big tata's and long skinny bodies (757) you get the meter maid (737/A320). :D

Okay, you're asking Newk to stop the madness that is 737 reserve? The man can walk on water, but you're asking a bit much.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- The Air Force says six pilots who participated in a spectacular flyover before an Iowa football game have been disciplined for flying too low and too fast. The lead pilot is giving up his right to fly military aircraft.

The Air Force says the four Talon T-38 Trainer jets flew just 16 feet above the stadium's press box when they wowed 70,000 fans inside Kinnick Stadium before Iowa hosted Ohio State on Nov. 20.

The jets also approached speeds of 400 knots during both the flyover and practice runs the day before. The limit is 300 knots.

Col. Russell Mack is commander of the 71st Flying Training Wing. He says while he understands fans attending the game enjoyed the flyover, the rules are meant to insure safety.

That'd been pretty fun to see!

however, had it been done in a DC9 by Newk at 16' above the press box and 400 knots, there would've been a "WHO DID THAT!? Newk! ha, Newk, you're so funny, gosh, that guy..."

FWIW, there is a rumor running around that mirrors this for the C-Series as well.

All I will add to this is that at the LCP meeting, RA gave not a remote hint that there is any kind of aircraft purchase in the works.. as a matter of fact, he stated that both BA and Airbus were wayyyy too high in their pricing...
