All things considered, and I'm not going to mention what things, and looking very narrowly at just the Delta mainline pilots point of view, what is the best price of oil for us for say the next year? think about it.

It's at $106ish.

The time to buy JB was prior to the massive overlay first with Dash-8's and 50 seaters, and then with larger RJ's and mainlines. The anti-trust issues now due to our actions over the last few years would be immense. And even if aprooved, the slot divesture required to get the rubber stamp would amount to the single greatest act of government mandated charity to date (read: SWA windfall).

As for their A/C inventory, I doubt anything they have is locked in under any better terms than we could get, quickly, on the open market anyway WRT fleet refreshment. We could replace the 9's and as many MD's as we wanted with 320's very, very quickly, under equal or better terms, but the problem is debt and absorbing any airline with a bunch of new planes means inheriting their debt. If the 190 was so desirable we could get a fleet of those as well pretty quickly but again that costs short term and we look as if we want to avoid that. A merger would also cost big money. A fragmentation/partial asset sale OTOH would be far easier and cheaper and require a lot less (SWA) charity.

In reality, me too. Fact is that B6 compliments AMR and we already have what we want up there. Half of the B6 terminal makes a ton of sense though. That could happen without buying B6.

I think the focus we have in NYC with the slot swap and then the West Coast with two carriers out there. B6 is kind of a plan B. Nothing will surprise me at all though.

Maybe we should organize an APC ticket buying pool.
Split the winnings when we hit.

Not a bad idea actually. I'm in. Not sure of the logistics, of course.

But they are the same engines as the MD-90's ;)

1. Capacity up 1-2 % for the year but a 4% drawdown from the ATL after the summer schedule. Extra pilots would be absorbed by longer block times. Delta "is not a furlough airline"

2. Should still make a small profit for the year

3. DC-9 gone by SEP 2012

4. 14 more MD90's this year. 60 more over the next 2 years.

5. 100 Saab/CRJ's gone this year

6. Decision on 110/190 seaters by 3Q of this year

7. Likes the C-series for the 110 seaters, but needs more info on the engines (geared turbofans) 737-900 or 321 for the 190 seater.

8. Still have firm orders for the 787 but doesn't think the -800 will work.

9. Marketing will try to send the same type A/C to the same stations to help with Maintenance issues. i.e. all MD-88 ATL-LGA.

10. NO BIG BASE MOVES in the near future. Too expensive.

11. Fuel hedge as of today +500 mil

12. Just hired a "Fuel Czar" from the oil industry to run our fuel purchase program. Even mention we might need to look at buying a refinery. All options on the table.

13. Delta wants to "WIN" in NY and LA. Slot swat should happen soon. Had comments about USAIR but probably should not quote.

"Not in a hiring mode" but looking forward the next 4-6 years could need 800 pilots a year but can only train 600 at the max.

Thank you for posting!

Is UsAir not doing that well?
Any idea on when is the next AE?
