All I will add to this is that at the LCP meeting, RA gave not a remote hint that there is any kind of aircraft purchase in the works.. as a matter of fact, he stated that both BA and Airbus were wayyyy too high in their pricing...
Ed commented in the investor call that he expected a decision/announcement later this year. It was followed up by a question from the audience in which he further commented on the RFP stating it is not a finance issue but a "timing" issue. |
The last I heard, fwiw, is that for the next 5 years the only new aircraft added to the fleet would be used MD90s and that came from a LCA talking about their most recent meeting. The same one where it was mentioned the 88 pays for itself in 5 days and the 737 in 25.

Absolutely no mention of the fact that the employees took this hit and are still making the airline run like a champ. Absolutely no mention of the fact that the employees work for those wages and still make the airline run like a champ. I don't blame Richard for wanting to be the world's largest airline with the second lowest unit costs. But it's shameful that we pilots have allowed our union to continue this behavior without even a hint of trying to raise us above bankruptcy wages. Carl |
Global pay rates?
Anybody have copies of the pay rates for our global compadres? Ie: KLM, AF, Luft, BA, Iberia, JAL........think it's time to take a gander......ifn' we be a global entity, then these should be our comparisons, possibly......

FedEx and its pilots secured labor peace, at least for another year or two, with union approval of contract amendments Wednesday. The agreement will run one year or two, at the union’s option, and provide for 3 percent annual raises, 1 percent lump sum payments up to $2,600, new safety programs and expanded foreign duty assignments. The pact, hammered out by FedEx management and the Air Line Pilots Association in less than six months, was approved by about 68 percent of pilots participating in the vote. The union, which represents 4,500 FedEx pilots, said more than 84 percent of members cast ballots. |
