Buzz, this one's for you....
Richard said that codeshare partner Alaska Airlines’s move to Terminal 6 at LAX to be closer to Delta’s operation there will make it easier for customers to connect between the airlines. He also said that Delta is investing in construction work at LAX in Terminals 5 and 6. “You are going to continue to see that investment in Los Angeles,” he said. “With all of our partners including Alaska and all of our SkyTeam partners we have the No. 1 position in L.A., and we are focused on growing it.” Lets hope its on our metal. I just tried to get a buddy pass for my sister to fly from SEA-LAX. EVERY flight is on Delta*----operated by Alaska.:(:( |

The captain and I this last trip kept on mentioning that song and the "next bid next bid when is gonna be the next bid" came to me. Talent...sheer talent. |

speaking of swaps......this not being able to trade trips with the open time pot within 48 hours of the trip is total BS.
It has nothing to do with coverage, just some stupid contractual rule. Does anyone know the rational behind this little gem? The key reason however is to provide a better quality of life for reserve pilots. It certainly would be possible to set up a move up system like the flight attendants have that could run the day prior and even same day as trips drop into open time. It will however result in absolute crap for reserve pilots in terms of trip quality. Every change in how we assign trips has ramifications that are different for each seniority segment. I don't ever plan on being on reserve again but don't mind granting this benefit to reserve pilots. |

There are a variety of reasons for this. Some have to do with special airport and aircrew requirements. Others have to due with automation and the fact that next day trips are worked manually.

I don't know about that. Would have been nice to see Tiger get another Jacket. He's done his time in the penalty box.

With similar makeups in other months? That trip quality is faannntastic! |

I don't ever plan on being on reserve again but don't mind granting this benefit to reserve pilots. As far as making reserve trip quality "crap" as you say I am not so sure. Folks that want to swap a 2/3 day for a 3/4 day trip would actually help reserves by pulling a LONGER trip out of the pot that a reserve would have had to fly, thus making them work less for the same pay basically. The benefit you wish to "grant" reserves for the ability to yellow slip preference of those trips in the pot, is hurting the ability of 85% of the pilot group to swap/pick-up trips that are sitting there in the pot. Granted our reserve rules stink up a storm and need a major overhaul, and that fight will benefit us all. Locking the majority of pilots out of swapping with the pot within this 48 hour rule ( when most trips show up nowadays, which is important) is very short-sighted. Especially with the new reserve requirements that has freed up personal drops in most categories tested. Guys will just drop their weekend trips and pick up white slips during the week, making the reserves fly even more on the weekend. Hence making the quality of life worse for reserve. It ****es me off that ALPA gives the same song and dance about "wanting a stable open time pot 48 hours prior blah blah blah" It is like dealing with politicians. They don't have this problem. We have the freakin technology/power to work on a basic quality of life change to give us the ability to modify our schedules that I would enjoy if I was a mid-seniority fry cook at the compton McDonalds. Why don't we start there. |
