Carl did a great job of making up words I did not say and then twisting it into some conspiracy theory. Here is the flaw in Carl's argument; if I really ignored the majority and only did what I wanted, why did the vast majority (over 90%) of my council approve of my work? Were they all fooled? I still see people that thank me for my work during a very difficult time. That is what made all the hassle worthwhile.
I was wrong to personalize this. I shouldn't have said "you" I should have just left it to this webboard and the ALPA webboard as a group. The issues discussed here and the opinions that are the majority here do not match the majority of the pilot group. They don't match the majority of the pilots I fly with. They don't match the majority of the pilots that I talked to in the pilot lounge, at social meetings, flying the line, calling on the phone, and all the other ways I reached out to hear the views of my pilots. Surely you would concede that the number of pilots that post often on this board and the ALPA board are a small percentage of the total pilot group.
I think you are a smart guy and you should probably get involved in the union. Again, I apologize for making it personal with you. Sign up for some committee work and find out how the union works. You will find a bunch of guys just like you that are busting their humps to get more for the pilots. You will also find that if there were any easy answers, people would have just done it. The issues are much more complicated than they seem, kind of like how flying a jet is more complicated than pushing the autopilot button. Every organization needs new blood to keep the energy up.

Hi Alfa,
I am a lurker here and a regular line pilot. I am wondering what part of the minority of pilots on APC or alpa boards the rest of the group disagree with?
Seems to me most guys on here think
1. our section 1 is a total mess.
2. our pay isnt industry leading.
3. dont trust or are not sure they trust Dalpa/alpa.
I can think of a few guys who dont give a crap about anything other then pay BUT they are a handfull.
So what are pilots telling you? because from your statement i feel like we fly for different airlines.

Guys,
Using I-Crew Max with my Droid and it pretty much rocks, but I noticed that at times the flight information icon "i" which provides flight status, wx, and gate information is sometimes not dispalyed. Anyone else run across this quirk?
Thanks Scoop

I think the i only works for the day of and the next day. I thnk I-Crew Max is neat, but it really is not worth the money. It is not that much more convenient than just looking at a printed out rotation. I uninstalled it as soon as it became a pay app. If it could hold more than 1 months schedule and update itself without computer access, then I would consider paying for it. As it is now, it's just a way to scan a rotation onto your phone.

You know FTB, I'm struck by this post in one very important way. It's not the accuracy of what you post, it's the fact that you've posted it instead of DALPA. This is the sort of thing that should be Exhibit A in the process of having Delta pilots understand where we need to be just to compare equally to the pilots of our direct competitor. Instead, we get lessons on how to read a balance sheet.
Sigh,
Carl

DALPA is working on one right now. BUT, and while I applaud FTB's excel skills, the one that "your dues dollars"/DALPA is constructing right now will be more detailed and more accurate and it will have many other comparisons, not just hourly rates estimated.
It will, I repeat, WILL include comparison of the SWA contract also.(I asked a P2P vol. who got the answer for me.)
You would know that DALPA is working on a comprehensive contract comparison in preparation for the upcoming Sect. 6 negotiations if you read Negotiator Notepad 11-02 - Section 6. It was emailed to those who are signed up for emails, and is also available for download on the main page of the DALPA website under recent documents (it is on the second page of recent documents, bottom right corner click "2")
Here's an excerpt:
Historical review of previous contracts – Today’s Delta pilots have travelled along several paths that merged into a single pilot group with one PWA on October 30, 2008. Having a firm grasp on our recent history can help us in setting our desired course going forward.
Contract Comparison – It is important for every pilot to be familiar with other contracts within our industry to understand where we are relative to our peers. We are preparing a comprehensive industry-wide contract comparison that will provide you with this information.
Survey – The Section 6 process involves a complete review of, and potential changes to, the PWA. Every Delta pilot will be given the opportunity to provide direct input to the Section 6 process through comprehensive survey(s), including the identification and prioritization of the many issues involved. We will initially use a web-based survey that will provide you with easy access to the process. Additional means of obtaining pilot input may be used as negotiations progress.

Also, the P2P vol. I talked to also has been asked to start collecting a "top 10" wants in the next contract from pilots as a precursor to Wilson polling coming up.
So find a P2P and get a top 10 list sent in.....
Hey Alfa,
I'm another one on here that usually just posts jokes and lurks. I go to my lec meetings and talk to my reps in the crew lounge. My reps agree with my concerns and tell me that the majority of Delta pilots are concerned about the SAME topics. Guess what, they are the same things discussed here. Maybe you are the 1.5% and we are the other 98.5%?????? Just saying.....
Don't worry Alfa, I disagree with a lot of Carl's rambling too. Your both right some of the time and wrong some of the time. Sometimes you two are even entertaining. I guess thats why I come here to watch the Jerry Springer fist fights.
