Anyone else hoping a 40 minute ceremony was just the reading of names and then a gentle toss from the flight deck of the Carl Vinson? :D

Here's another perspective. That right there is not a main rotor mast. I stand by my theory of some sort of very quiet tail rotor:

80, you are correct. I misspoke and posted before I had looked at the picture enough to see that it was a complete tailboom section, still having attached to it the tail rotor.

What I was looking at alone was the disk shaped object covering the tail rotor. So...."court reporter" ensure the record shows....vvvvvvvvvvvvvv!!

FOR THE RECORD: "I was wrong". :)

It's all good! There are not many times in our lives that we get to see new technology being unclassified by accident. Too bad it sounds like the chinese are going to be all over this one like flies on poop.

I'm just glad newK spends his weekends modifying UH-60 helicopters. :)

There are some key diplomatic issues that arise from the use of these machines. The biggest one is that apparently we have realized that we could not trust letting the Pakistani military know that we are conducting this operation. That means that the support of Bin Laden/ Al Quada runs high up in the government there. A government to which we are pouring in aid.

I'll rant more later... time to don the monkey suit and go flying for the first time in 2 weeks. :D

And yep. I really hope that there was some pig blood involved in the "cleansing." We may never know but I hope they gave that coward all of the "respect" he deserved.

The point in masking the TR IR signature is to prevent an engagement from a shoulder fired IR guided missile from some other aspect than directly behind. That's the most amount of detail Ill cover on an open thread.

Someone slept during ground school and TTPs!

First of all, "dude" just won't do, so if you'd like my number and care to call me we can discuss in greater length helicopter theory/aerodynamics, send me a PM and I'll give you my contact information there.

I realize now that it's not an MH-6 upper rotor mast. So I don't repeat myself, reference the above post.

Referencing your "IR signature" comments, I'm starting to believe that you were the one who slept through ground school/refresher academics/TTP's. For everyone elses reading pleasure why don't you discuss with me the "Class" of IR signature the exhaust system emits through the HIRSS's vs. what "Class" the "tiny little tail rotor gearbox" emits??? Come on......."DUDE". (I'd explain to you the logic of an IR seeker head, but not for "Public Forum" purposes, so why don't you PM me and we can talk about your current prescription.):D

As always, even for you TOGA, :)

Fly safe,

I've always liked the word "dude", as much as the word "bummer". When I taught UPT, my students told me that they were worried when I called them "dude" because it usually meant they failed the ride, and I wasn't even aware of that myself! Dude....:)

Check out this video on YouTube:

120 would surprise me. The senior Delta guys have no retirement tied to the company. Crazy to take a early out when the disability option is a much better financially. Simply go in and tell the truth on your next medical.
The senior NW guys are making a great dollars in GS's and wont be leaving unless that dries up like the 2009 when we had a major surplus of pilots. My guess is around 50 and all of them will be pilots who planned on leaving in the next year anyway so they have no real effect on advancement.

I'm hoping for more than that...because I'm a person of respect for the dead. I understand that per his religious tradition, his body was washed prior to being wrapped in the sheet and tossed overboard. My hope is that he was "washed" by about 100 sailors with very full bladders.
