For what it's worth, the HIRSS does a fairly decent job of masking the IR signature in almost all aspects but from behind (yes even the 701C). The point in masking the TR IR signature is to prevent an engagement from a shoulder fired IR guided missile from some other aspect than directly behind. That's the most amount of detail Ill cover on an open thread.

Someone slept during ground school and TTPs!

There is no IR shoulder fired missile that targets anything in the low teperature range of a tail rotor. All IR missiles target temperature spectra of engines. Tails and tail rotors are in jeopardy because they are in the way.

Bidding Question

When does the "summer flying schedule" begin?

I'm thinking about trying to bid for a rolling thunder-friendly schedule for June. Do we really get cranking in June or is it more like July? I'd rather not end up with 18 of the last 19 days on reserve if we're not gonna be short in June. Category is ATL73NB. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Another greedy pilot :D

Oil has dropped to $105/barrel; DAL stock is up 3%.

May 4, 2010 - Delta announces intention to hire pilots after the summer.

May 4, 2011 - DALPA emails out LOA 28 for early outs.

Maybe next year

In all seriousness though, I hope that a lot of old guys jump on this great opportunity to bail. :D

This has nothing to do with being fat staffed. It was a program that they were going to offer to everyone but us, and DALPA felt we should be included so we are. Frankly, they probably prefer that no one takes it.

Thanks! I'm having serious Bus withdrawal though. They got this big control wheel thingy in your lap all the time, and I keep forgetting to hit LNAV to go direct.

In time I guess. I hope they bring something French to ATL sooner than later :p

So far driving to work is everything I dreamed it could be. I keep pulling for the STL minihub for you.

Its kinda hard to figure why they would offer this to pilots if we're not over staffed.
This program is liable to get expensive real quick.
I think quite a few will take the money and run. Especially NWA guys who still have their DB. They're going to be working for nothing if they pass this up.
