Followed by, "*** is filch?" "I have the aircraft." "Are you a northie?" "Geezz, you guys.":D

On reserve finishing a 3-day trip.
Last day has three legs worth about 5 hours.
Potential re-route which would add on one leg to a layover then a deadhead back to base the next day.

I know I would get re-route pay for the one extra leg and the last day, but I almost read the contract (23.L.9) to make me believe I would get re-route pay for the entire third day plus the last day.

Also do you get payback days if re-routed into an off day on reserve or just the 1.5X pay?

I do not have the PWA in front of me, but I have been rerouted in to an X and * day and all I got back was the off day with no premium pay.

As I take it they can most those days off as they see fit. The * day basically is a day they cannot move, but for a IROP that cannot get you back to base, they can violate it and have seen it done.

Part of the reason I never schedule anything on my first off day that cannot be moved easily.

BTW....Anyone seen the forecast for ATL on Christmas day? 2-3 inches of snow. First time since 1882 that there will be anything more than a trace on Xmas in ATL.

Merry Christmas from the hoser eh.

I saw the forecast and promptly took my smart phone away from my son and put it in the drawer. I looked at the open time and reserves available and turned it off.

Some guys are on their 3rd GS.

Geez, you should hear some of the rumors guys are hearing out there about DAL. This is the medium to ask these questions, and get informed prior to an interview.

No training contracts, and yes, ppl have left DAL shortly after getting hired to go to other airlines.

I get that. I understand about them not holding the flight. Still, they were there 5 minutes prior to departure and it was the last flight of the night which took off early. With the information technology we have today, this shouldn't happen. No reason except the agent wanting to make sure she closed it out on time. They can see that that have tight connecting customers and therefore delay in releasing the seats until the last minute. So in this case, 48 minute delay out of Denver which leads to 20 minute layover. They run, sprint, do everything they can to get there...get to the gate 5 minutes early and told thanks but no thanks. Doesn't make sense to me, they should change the policy. No amount of me citing company policy is going to calm down my sister who just dropped more f bombs than I have heard in 5 years.

I probably am biased because this same scenario has had me sleeping in the pilot lounge more than once. But that is different, I am a nonrev and they weren't expecting me. We have to value our customers or in the long run we are going to pay the price.

Leaving people behind is one of my major pet peeves. These days (full flights) it can have a domino effect. If you have a cooperative gate agent and Captain you can make it happen.

Recently I had a fairly long flight and there were 12 pax that were connecting to ours. Their aircraft (DAL mainline) had landed and the jet was at the gate deplaning. Ramp was telling our agent to close the door and push. The pax would get to their destination the next day (18 hours later).

We worked together, waited for the pax, and got everybody to their destination on time. So to me it was a win-win. I'll take a hit in D-0 when we get there on time (more important statistic in my book) and take care of our customers.

You know them. They're the ones that pay our salary.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

I really wish we'd go to a system that makes the "departure time" be the time that the gate/jetway door closes, NOT when we are turning on the beacon and closing the MCD.

It would alleviate the problem of how "early" the agent closes up. The door from the terminal shuts at the departure time. Easier for the customer to understand.

Sometimes I wonder if some stations are doing that. I have repeatedly walked up to my flight to see the posted departure time ten minutes prior to what my paring says.

In reality DAL has given the time line to the customers that states their seats will be released. DAL has stated how they want to deal with tight connections.

Most Captains I fly with are qued in to ask about Non reves and passengers in the gate house. The gate agents are being pushed very hard for D-0. It is a very large system we live in.
I have seen DAL delay flights for 45 mins for large groups, move pax to connecting flights on vans, and in the converse leave passengers behind that they can accommodate a flight or two later whether it is today or the next day.

If you do not like what you see, FCR it, and if a passenger acquaintance does not like it, tell them to write DAL.

Did you north guys use checklists? I am intentionally flaming.

Merry Christmas to the homies of APC! Remember the reason for the season.

Scambo:D

Scambo, I have gotten nailed by the HK/HKI rollover from the previous night on the first flight as well. I always check the flight prior to leaving the house. Good example was yesterday. I went to bed thinking there were 35 seats, and woke up to my flight being oversold by 10.

ATL is always a best guess and it can change. I have noticed that Revenue Management has been flexing the operation to alternate bases with there is an IROP in a other hub or two. The did it with the MSP and DTW snow events this last month. It makes non-revving a gamble at best. I have generally been buying tickets unless I have no where to be.
