Yes..........but "FLCHing for beers" is sooooooo much easier to say than "Flight Level Changing for beers":D
and yes............Ive had to teach this game to EVERY southie capt I've flown with. Barbarians!!:p Oh, and Merry Christmas to everyone!! and Happy Festivus too I spent a lot of time in the jumpseat of NW 757s in between LGA and DTW when I was flying the MD-88 (about a year before the merger was announced), so when I went to 767 school I was calling it "Felch" like I was used to hearing. "We call it flight level change here, son" "okay then... I'm on probation still.... whatever you say!" 767 school at Delta was not very good... very little in the books as far as actual stuff that is normally done on the line and even worse systems manuals. It's like it was barely come out of the dark ages of the good ol' boy flying. The other two schools I've been through were much much better... 73N school was absolutely fantastic. Merry Christmas, all! |
A christmas present to all:

Your so right.........as an LAX guy now, I constantly have a blank look on my face for all the little thing that weren't in the transition material. Departure in the right window on the capt's radio head prepush, and of course my favoriate:
FLCH vs Flight Level Change:D |

No. If you're even asking that question, Delta is probably not for you.

Was up in MSP for recurrent last month and had a North F/O call out "Feltch" and I had NO idea what he was talking about! Thought he might be referring to the Chevy Chase Movie "Fletch" but that would be like Ferd and Fred:). Let's see, some others....F/O's setting the stab trim, not arming Speedbrake for ldg, the seatbelt sign, Status page called up and left "up" after waveoff, comm 1 and 2 usage on ramp and ground control, the logbook (a biggie!) and course the whole FMS/MCDU thing, among many others!!!:D
I prefer Fletch, vs. feltch, myself...and I always keep some 3-n-1 oil in my flight kit. I actually prefer the south way of running the FMS, but I'm flexible. For all of the above, I really don't care who does it, as long as it gets done right. Happy Holidays from the Wilshire Grand (it ain't that grand) |

FO's always set the stab trim in the 73N (or at least I do, I haven't flown with any other FOs). Never heard of "feltch".....however.:D

Yep, lost mine and looks like I'm heading out. I love how we FO's set the stab trim on the 73N but the only calibrated indicator is on the captain's side, haha. I follow the "spirit" of the new FMC stuff... I'm only high workload if I sense that it'll be a few too many buttons to type while managing the autopilot (basically a last minute runway change). Other than that the inputs are simple enough to where theres no reason to have two heads down (one staring at the FMC waiting for the guy to selected it and one fat fingering buttons on it). As far as the ID badge I havent, but I found one and I now have a ridiculously news talkshow handsomely picture ID. :D |
