That would be great. :) Lets hope it happens. :)

Yes, yes and yes. You are still employed full time you basically have told the company for less hours on guarantee, you are off the property that month. They win since they are not paying a bunch of guys 70 hours of guarantee on reserve to do nothing and they are not furloughing for short periods of time. You win if you want a month vacation. The caveat is you can't pick up any open time. You are waiving your right to do any flying for that month. Otherwise, see the world. As a result, it typically goes very senior. At least with the ATL757/767 domestic. I think the junior guys who got them last winter were '97 hires. Most were FOs hired in the '91-'92 time frame.

Even if SOC was in November, our December APA is in August so I don't see how the ANC pilots would be able to bid the whole system if SOC comes before base closure. Would be nice but I don't see how.

Not sure, but remember that ALL DAL-S bases will be new bases and freezes will not apply for six months after they are open to you. I do believe that moving is included for new bases too. In effect moot.

Anyone correct me if my recollection is incorrect. I need to pull the PWA. (Doing that now)

Yep, this last winter the only 07 hires that got it were on the ER after the third month of 80+ SIL's being offered.

There are a few stipulations. Not training or vacation in said month as well as not having to deal with going non-landing current. IE you can only do it two months in a row at best.

I heard furloughs are coming?

If you work for USAir or United, I would be concerned. We currently do not have enough pilots to fly all the block hours that networks wants us to fly this summer. The 2010 flying program is currently scheduled to be an increase of approximately 1% above the 2009 block hour program.

Loosely translated that means that we will not have enough pilots for 2010 either. There have not been any decisions made at this time but rest assured that the costs of furloughs are both economic and emotional. We will not furlough unless there are compelling reasons like a full blown depression of the world’s economy–force majure level stuff. It would take 18-24 months worth of economic savings to justify furloughing someone on a financial basis – even more on an emotional justification. For now, no one sees that level of cuts coming in flight operations. Expect SILs in international categories and Personal Leaves of Absences to be granted come this fall.

good info thanks!!

If a PERP were offered, what would you consider madatory for consideration?
