No, Im not on drugs, but I wish CVG would grow grow grow. Its a cheap place to live, the airport is incredibly efficient in getting you to and from gates/runways, and the workers kick ass.

CVG is an awesome airport. It just has one problem. It is way to close to DTW and NWA's new terminal that needs to be used to pay for it.

Someone pointed out to me that the most recent staffing projection shows us needing 500 fewer pilots than the last staffing projection. Has anyone noticed that? Has that been addressed or explained? I was skeptical since it showed a reduction in 777 pilots in both bases and seats...that seemed odd. Anyone hear anything about this? Is it normal summer vs. fall schedule adjustment?

Interesting. It has been pointed out by some on the NWA side that we are 12% undermanned for the new work rules under the joint contract. If I do the math that puts us about 600 pilots short.

These are the things that make you go hmm...

BTW I thought there were rumors of hiring on the DAL side?

They must have been looking at the contract staffing formula list. Delta is currently 500 pilots over the min staffing list and has been for years. Apparently contract min staffing + 500 is about the "actual" minimum to run the airline at this size without the wheels coming off.

The list of contract-formula min staffing is called 22D2 and the list of "actual" min staffing is called 22D3. Both can be found on the flight ops pilot resources and scheduling web site.

All depends on the time of day. During the summer, there were around 58 mainline flights a day including 5 to Europe. Starting in Sept, I've heard it will drop to 43 and I think the Europe flights drop to 3.

I like the sounds of a CVG ER base. Lets keep that one going. :)

That is a possibility. So are a few other things.

Do not get worked up about the staffing reports. When they start offering SIL's in Nov and Dec and then again in March start to get very worried. Point is that if the summer schedule goes through without any major adjustments we will be having a few Monday Night Wing Ceremonies in the next six months.

Thanks guys. I wasn't getting quite ready to update my resumes yet, but it was far from comforting. I appreciate the insight.
