But the thing is, every time that movie comes on, no matter how may times you've seen it (just like "The Godfather") somehow you can't walk away and have to watch the whole thing

Not so fast. Latest DOT filing (08.29.08) as follows:
Applied with the DOT for 3-times weekly service between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo, Brazil. One of the frequencies is Delta's own (you all currently have 21 frequencies which you use out of either JFK or ATL to Brazil) while the other two are currently allocated to United. United's frequencies have been dormant for some years.
Delta plans to inaugurate new Los Angeles - Sao Paulo service, initially to be operated three times per week on or about December 14, 2008. Delta will use 767-332ER aircraft.

Summer schedule:
LAX-GRU 2100-1305 (+1)
GRU-LAX 2120-600 (+1)

Winter schedule:
LAX-GRU 2100-1525 (+1)
GRU-LAX 2255-600 (+1)

Block Times:

Summer LAX-GRU 12.1
Summer GRU-LAX 12.7

Winter LAX-GRU 12.4
Winter GRU-LAX 13.1

Haustein is the chess master

Agreed on both posts. I saw a great documentary on Apocalypse Now a few years back and they spent a great deal of time on how it really messed up Martin Sheen. He got so in character that the opening scene of him in the hotel room drunk listening to the Doors was not scripted. He got really loaded one night and started his dance and mirror shattering episode and they just ran the cameras on him.

I repeat a previous post, you could pay Hauenstein $20 mil a year and I wouldn't care. I credit him on the reinvention and survival of DAL. He is the ultimate chess master and none of us simpletons have any clue what he is going to do with the route maps once he gets some A330s, 747s heck even the DC9s on the property. I'd be very afraid if I was at the other carriers with where he could take us in 3-5 years. I just hope we pay him and Cortelyou enough that they don't leave.

DAL4Ever,

I agree with you on Hauenstein 100%.

Remember "Clueless" Mike Bell?

I think we were the industry leader in running from competition for years. This is a very welcome change.

... and why didn't I buy stock at $4.71 a share when I told the wife, "I should buy this Delta stock while it is down under five bucks.

The latest out of Crew Resources is a Advanced Entitlement in October to cover 777 deliveries. Training pipeline is full through November. No word yet on backfill, or CVG.

Seems like they just keep pushing this back to get a better idea of what things will look like after the D of CC.

Yes, they do. I think that if they can get the DOJ to agree early (Pre Oct 15th) that there will be no issues you will see this be a very big and sweeping AE. If not and DCC is at the middle to end of Oct this AE will be small. They will then put out another one shortly thereafter (1-3 months) that will cover all of the new and improved flying. The Summer 09 schedule will be a lot different than this summers schedule.

Oh yeah, I remember. We would let AMR, CAL and UAL discover a route. Then let them get established for 3-5 years and finally, ever so begrudgingly we might put some metal on said route. However, we would load up with 18 767-400 and 777 frequencies a day to MCO flying the families cashing in frequent flier points while the other carriers would make a killing taking those planes overseas.

It was as painful as watching Delta try and enter into the modern IT arena. "Windows you say? Our DOS systems have worked just fine since 1977."

From what I hear, the NWA IT infrastructure is better than ours so I hope we adapt it. However, I think we are finally the ship leading the fight instead of letting others do it for us.

Quite true. I hope to see the fruits of this for the duration of all of our careers here at DAL.

DAL4EVER 09-03-2008 02:32 PM

Yep. Any more rumors from Glen the Immortal?
