The seniority list is what it is. Any attempt at modification, ie. trying to remove fences, is gonna open up a hole can of worms. I can just imagine the lawsuits etc.

I think the vast majority of us "Southies" have put it behind us and are trying to look ahead. I remember flying with some old Western pilots a couple of years after the Western merger and they were so bitter I figured they were going to find an early grave.I never said anything because I had no dog in the fight. But it taught me a lesson. Going through the rest of your career and life bitter and ****ed off is no way to live a long and enjoyable life (this applies to both groups)!! Hey we fly airplane for a living........How cool is that?!!!!!:D

I make a motion that another thread be started for those who just want to complain, moan and talk about how the "other side" got over, got Christmas, got New Years, got a new birthday, got a water shed, or whatever, so they can do that over there.

Yeah, I know I'm not a Old Delta guy and have no real claim to this thread. But, I am an Old NWA guy and have seen and heard these unproductive comments and conversations for 14 years.

If it makes any of you naysayers feel any better, I will enjoy Christmas AND Thanksgiving for the rest of my career, because for some reason God has given me a "gift" and allowed me to enjoy and be thankful for the things he has given me.

More importantly, he has given me the wisdom to know what I can and can't change. Apparantly those "gifts" were in short supply when the time came to pass out presents.

It's over (when you want it to be) and there is nothing your beyaching can do to change it.

Gosh, Carl I think you over-elaborated in that response..;) So, I guess the opposite is true of all those assertions: The 777 is NOT fenced to fdal for 5 yrs, airplanes magically materialize out of thin air and have absolutely nothing to do with those ethereal demons called "orders".. dal won't be taking delivery of any 777s next year.... someone from fnwa DOES want to designate 777s as a replacement for 742 pax version.... all true?

Yeah, and I'm saying suppose we agreed to leave seniority alone? It is obvious that would have to be agreed to in order to remove the fences....nobody in their right mind would want to renegotiate seniority! Aren't we equally happy/unhappy with it?....call the fences and all the future wars over the fences a "wash" beforehand , like the seniority list...

You may get a few 777s as replacements but even if every 747 was dumped and all 787s cancelled you sure as hell would not get all of the future orders, rest assured. It would probably be divided by some type of ratio. A ratio that would probably be the same as in a fenceless airline...what a concept! No battles over replacements!

If a united fdal and fnwa group were in complete agreement and proposed to drop the fences with no change in the SLI, Bloch & co. would outright reject it because...????...we don't know what is good for us? because its a legal document like the 10 Commandments and is carved permanently in stone?

Northies, Red Tails, Blue Tails, I guess Green Tails, Southies, Western, DALN, DALS, FNWA, FDAL...

Nah. From what I can tell from having FNWA/Northies/Red Tails on our jumpseat and my interactions with other pilots on the line, the SLI is done. Next up is integration, SOC and of course that first joint AE. But the SLI isn't even mentioned except once in a while by a person I wouldn't care to be.
