Not saying it will happen, but it sure looks like the plan.
Simply adding a little flying to a base doesn't come remotely close to passing out enough kool aid to swing the entier base no matter what else they throw at the total group. ATL is the biggest hub of the biggest airline in the galaxy, and as such its going to have some flying based there. I doubt too many ATL pilots will rubber stamp a bad contract, that they would have otherwise rejected, because a cool new plane is based there and over all flying is up a tad.

Actually, the more ATL pilots we have, the harder a sell it will be to claim that we can't financially swing SWA narrowbody pay, 15 days off reserve and 100% scope (there on occasion have been more than a few outsourced jets sighted at once in ATL).

Are there any SEA 330 Bs on here?

How many of the local guys bid reserve lines by choice? Is a 70% qualifier good enough to say off reserve there?

I'd be at 67ish % there today, but who knows what the MSP guys will do. I agree that most of the Bs will bid over to DTW......maybe........

Question for you scheduling gurus. I just put in some WS for June and was awarded one for the end of the month that spills into July. I picked up 2 back to back 3 days taking me into July so I will have a 30 in 7 problem to fly on the 3rd.

So knowing that I am on the bubble to hold the 4th off can I use this to my advantage. Can I bid for trips that operate over those days I am flying or the 30 in 7 issue days.

I have tried in the past to pick up trips during the bidding window and have been denied. When does the company take a snap shot of your schedule for use with PBS?

Training will still be in MSP. I believe the A320 is switching to the new model of training in October in which I believes systems will be via EQual.

When bids close on the 12th, PBS looks at your schedule.

If seat locked: You will be able to bid a Capt. position or a new category regardless of lock. Or, You can take a VD to any position the person you are protecting can hold UNLESS it is an OPEN position in which case you will be awarded it based on your own seniority.(ie. new category or vacancy)

If not seat locked: You will be awarded your AE first before your VD.
Not seat locked. Unfortunately I was planning on bidding DTW 320 on this bid I will still bid it, but as it stands right now I will need 50 people to leave it since I can't displace anyone, PLUS there are 36 people senior to me that have that as their first choice currently (I know this will change.)

Very true. Thanks for clarifying. Also this is from one of the TWG documents:
-----------------------
A senior pilot may volunteer to be displaced (VD) in lieu of a junior pilot in his current category. A pilot who is being voluntarily displaced may:
a. Displace into a category to fill an existing vacancy that his seniority entitles him to hold,
b. Displace a pilot junior to him in the same position in a different base, or
c. Displace a pilot in any category who is junior to the pilot whose displacement he has volunteered to take.

Not only is there already a policy for military travel it is a federal policy. It is called the JFTR or Joint Federal Travel Regulations. Every carrier that wants to be eligible to bid for government contracts including carrying military members must comply with certain rules, regulations and standards.

Furthermore, as has been pointed out numerous times - these guys were not paying with their own coin - it is all put on a travel claim, normally a government issued credit card that they should all have been using. As a matter of fact every US Navy member is supposed to have and use a government card.

These soldiers were simply venting and getting back at a company (Delta) in this case, that ****ed them off, in the way this generation does - via the web-based media. Thats OK. The media are the ones who made a big deal out of this whole issue. It seems that any large organization is afraid of any possible criticism or slight of the military. If the policy is three bags the guys should have known and been ready for the charges. Being deployed in the military is not a valid excuse for not knowing the travel policy. Note - I am currently in the military and have been for over 25 years.

Most Importantly - DAL had better get used to this kind of bad publicity. Trying to micro-manage your employees vice training, trusting, and empowering them to make decisions on the spot does not bode well in this day of twitter, youtube, and the whole inter-web thingy.
