Just reading over the Contract Awareness Bulletin regarding this new sick leave monitoring. Is it just me or is this more of the same philosophy that accompanied the commuter policy?
Is our sick abuse as a group so bad that they want to create an adversarial relationship over this? Most of us are big boys and girls that do not abuse it. I'd hate to see the "constructive engagement" era end because of perceived abuse by a few perceived bad apples. Not a fan of this latest trend  |

PCS Submission Deadlines Eliminated
Not that I've ever gotten a GS, but from the sound of it my chances are even less now. From Delta's MEC Sched Alert 11-06:
For rotations that are scheduled to operate today or tomorrow (same-day or next-day trip coverage), Crew Scheduling manually processes WS, Green Slip (GS) and Green Slip with Conflict (GSWC) requests through a manual Trip Coverage procedure. There is currently a submission deadline for these requests at 0700E and 1800E daily. Beginning on July 20, 2011, those deadlines will be eliminated. Not bringing this up to argue the merits of seniority, but instead curious as to the process through which this change was effected. Is this (part bolded and underlined) a change from the contract in regards to order of slip awards? Was input from our membership sought on this? I didn't see anything about this beforehand. Prior to July 20, 2011, the current award process remains intact. That is, if a pilot submits a WS, GS or GSWC request after the submission deadline, his request will only be considered after requests that were submitted prior to the deadline. In other words, he/she will go to the bottom of the list and a more junior pilot may be awarded a trip that he/she desires. Beginning on July 20, 2011, those deadlines will be eliminated and WS, GS, GSWC requests will be considered in seniority order as long as they have been submitted prior to the start of Trip Coverage for a particular trip. In other words, pilots will no longer go to the bottom of the list. |
Jesse,
I believe this was a accepted recommendation by the SOT and they got it changed. |
so does that mean junior guys will never get a green slip if someone senior has one in even if it is their tenth and the junior guy has zero?

I don't think so. It just eliminates the deadline for same day/next day flying. So if you have 0 & senior guy has 1 you still get it. Before it was of you had 0 and senior guy had 0, but he didn't make the submission deadline then you got it instead.
I do not like this. It's gotten pretty difficult to get a GS lately and this isn't helping. |
