I have said before there is no chance DPA can re-invent the wheel in time and not have the company use the DPA wedge to their advantage. Maybe someone can offer me some guidance but are we really, really being drug into a union certification vote on the SLI issue? Even if this is a small part of the platform, what does DPA intend to do with the SLI? Is this his dog in the fight?
Sending in a card doesn't mean you are voting for the DPA yet, rather asking for a vote to choose. Competition is good, especially when ALPA represents RJ pilots and mainline pilots. ALPA has to understand that we want their FULL attention when it comes to OUR contract, and not to manage our expectations while comparing us to our so called "peers" on the low end of the scale like USAir. The Delta pilot shouldn't have brought up the SLI, but you should have taken his advice and taken the card and sent it in. If you had an agent, would he have to listen to your wants and needs, and fight for you? If he instead thought you couldn't get much, or compared you to someone weaker, would you keep him? Sending in the DPA card is a way to tell that agent to fight a little harder for what YOU want, not what they think you might be able to get.

And while we're at it, I apparently momentarily lost my differentiation between "there" and "their." I have become who I hate.

AF/KLM would be interesting to see, however the document at least at first glance is well done. I'll always give credit where credit is due. The negotiations environment handout was very interesting as well (and well done again).

I need to get my box of crayons and speak n' spell to digest the comparison.... and probably some beer.

The only time I think it makes sense to use a GS over a reserve pilot is if you don't want to risk losing the only person required to show up. If you run out of reserves you are left using only GS's which may not be good if they dry up or are not interested in the available flying, so in those times I could see where they use the GS's over the reserve pilot.

As with any congressman or President, there is no heat to do the right things until there is a threat of losing the next election. That's why a reelected senator tends to be rather dangerous.

this is form the DPA site:

DPA FAQ's > There is a rumor floating around that DPA is seeking to overturn the Seniority List Integration. Is this true?

Absolutely not! That is a rumor being spread by ALPA proponents that is simply ridiculous. The list is permanent and not changeable. Anyone who is suggesting this idea should be challenged to describe a method for this to occur. They won’t be able to. The issue is dead and we are moving forward unified.

You're giving into pier pressure.

When I was a kid my dad bought me a shirt in California that said pier pressure, for years I just assumed I was spelling it right. Right along with congradulations. When my brother graduated from h.s. he got a mug that said congradulations, I figured, you're celebrating an education so obviously it's spelled right? Surely? And it sounds right?!

Stupid play on words.

Anybody use short term disability here? Buddy tore his ACL. Not ACL65pilot, just the ACL in the knee. We've been reading the contract but anyone with experience that has some do's and do nots?

Also on a separate but possibly similar subject - wear your seatbelts on the hotel van.

I'm religious but not particularly superstitious. However, I had a rather larger crow make itself all too well known to my car as I was leaving the neighborhood this morning.

I buckled up tightly when Crackhead McGee drove us to the hotel tonight after another miraculous day of me not wrecking an airplane or depositing a winglet in the tail of a CRJ.

You do realize that America West's payrates are higher than USair's, right?

And we ALL should NOT forget that we are giving the company back 39% of our pay each and every month.....for the last five years now. How does that add up in your check-book balance???
