I agree, but paying down debt doesn't reduce operating profit, nor does making capital improvements. That was my point. Asset depreciation will, but companies don't/can't change that annually to "hide" profits when times are good, and then back off when they're not. The SEC really frowns on that sort of thing.

Scope should start by making everyone a delta pilot. That means Comair and Delta Elite or anything owned by Delta that does brand flying. No need to have barriers between your own company.
Followed by recapturing flying aka west coast by immediate termination of Alaska code share and code shares previously mentioned in the thread that Delta pilots should be doing.

I can promise you that any scope giveback will be quickly and harshly dealt with before it can be brought to vote.
A quick look at the contract comparison that was distributed recently illustrates that point sharply. The airline with the worst scope (usair) has the lowest pay of anyone. The airlines with the best scope (fedex, ups, southwest) have the highest pay.
While some may be too ignorant to see that... I'm at least educating all captains that I fly with that the FO's in those fast taxiing clown cars make as much or more than them.

Beware the Curse!
Ah, that path! According to Delta lore, it led from the G.O. to a vacant lot near the cargo ramp. Hooded figures would creep along it at midnight once per quarter, carrying pickaxes, shovels, and a heavy footlocker. Many have set out to find the path, but none have returned. BwaaHaaHaa!
Not to be a one upper. Slow speed rejected takeoff in ATL in a MD88. After MEL procedures, were restricted to FLAPS 5. We were now overweight for 26L and 28 though we were sitting in between 26L and 26R at the time. So we taxied over to 27R. Our Vspeeds ... 163, 168, 175. And of course a HW5 required. Giddy up!
The ones on the 737-800 are 220... and that airplane is a runway hog for sure. Typical approach speed is in the mid 150's. Rotation is usually near 160.
We did a heavy takeoff out of MEX a few weeks ago and our takeoff roll was over 10,000 feet!

Is this why the 73 has surpassed the 88 this year in the number of unstabilized visual approaches? Just did recurrent and the instr said the Mad Dog is no longer the sloppy messy kid in the cafeteria
