I know it is probably in this thread a thousand pages back so forgive me for asking....... When do the guys that signed up for the early retirement/buy out in July have to actually retire or can they just keep extending month to month?

Thanks

FP

The list is on the Flight Ops webpage.
They're all gone by Jan 1.

Considering it will take 6 years to deliver these airplanes after they stqrt arriving 2 years from now, that is pretty hard to speculate on right now.

The record is for the 757, not your DC-10 or the 747, both of which has hauled a LOT more out of those areas.

yes, that many.
the press release says:

"The order will enable Delta to add 100 fuel-efficient, state-of-the-art 180-seat aircraft to its fleet, replacing on a capacity-neutral basis older technology aircraft that will be retired from the fleet."
or said another way:

This order is not designed to grow the fleet or increase Delta’s network capacity.
I like new jets as much as the next guy, there's something special about that "new jet smell"
But for us pilots the deal leaves us with fewer, bigger, better-paying jets.

I think thats a fair long-term assessment.
It also means fewer ER pilots in that category...

That's why there's some angst in the smaller ER bases with few intl. departures like LAX, SLC.
