Delta has moved aggressively to react to market conditions and size the airline. These initiatives have touched all areas of the company and include reducing capacity, retiring 140 less-efficient aircraft, consolidating 1.2 million square feet of facilities and lowering its selling and distribution costs.

meanwhile

Air France-KLM reported a 7.6% traffic increase in August, and a capacity increase of 6.1%. The load factor was up 1.2 points to 85.7% compared to a year ago.
Air France said its Americas network saw strong growth, up 10.7%. Asia was also up versus last August. Though traffic in and out of Japan remains weak, Asia’s load factor as a whole was 89.4%, up 1.4% year-over-year

and

Alaska Airlines reported a 7.6% increase in traffic in August.
The company said it flew 2.1 billion revenue passenger miles, up from 1.95 billion a year ago. Capacity increased to 5.4%, and the load factor was up 1.8 points to 88.3% compared to the prior year.

Cant wait for the contract survey. Scope, Scope and more SCOPE

There were guys crediting 125-150 hours/month - this was at Express B-scale wages but still they were making some serious coin. Delta Express version of Rolling Thunder - ask some guys (if you can find them) that did it.

Oh I will give you first hand account of the money they made. My Captain going into 9/11 told me I wouldn't pay for anything on the trip. Not for food, tips or drinks. When asked why, he replied,

"I had a good month last month."
"What's a good month?", I asked.
"I made $39,000", he said.

That was as an Express Captain in August 2001. Needless to say I accepted his offer to buy everything. But it had me wondering, if that's what the most junior Captain position in the company could pay, what would it have been like if that had been the 777 and guys were doing that?

The power of solidarity my friends! Pretty much blows FedEx, SWA, UPS out of the water. Of course, that was C2K AND a different life ago.

Is that the oil painting of an ALPA president?
