65, Big Engines, Supercritical Wing, Transcon range (easy), 530MPH+ cruise, quiet. Only bad thing was the lack of external baggage access. Great machine. They were perceived as an old man's jet, but the 65 was to a 40 what a 737-700 is to a 737-200.

But what's funny was someone last year made a comment on the Colin Cowherd show about "Hey, I went to Oregon... we didn't have girls that looked like that? Where are they getting them?"

Too funny. I'm not thinking the northwest is where you find the hot girls of the Pac 10. I'm thinking Ferd has that... cough... nailed down... cough... in Arizona.

The 65 is nice. Never been in one. I saw a lot of the older ones and never could figure out why anyone was attracted to them. They're not the most attractive looking airplanes on the airport. But when you read up on them and read the numbers, wow. It's a great airplane < period > but especially when you consider the cost and what you get for it. It's an impressive grab and I appreciate them much more these days.

Seven or eight years ago, when I was a new 757 Capt., I kept a car in DTW. I spent some time as a reserve and went out to Roush Industries in Lavonia one afternoon to get some stickers for one of my vintage race cars that has a Roush Racing engine in it. Jack found out that I was coming and wanted to meet the owner of the old Trans-Am Series Mustang race car that had raced with parts of his rental car on it. Needless to say, when he found out that I was a pilot, he wanted to talk airplanes, and, of course I wanted to talk cars.

Neat Stuff! Particularly your Trans Am Series Mustang. I've always wanted some Roush stuff in my garage and have never quite been able to afford any. I'm much more of a Roush & SVT fan than that fiberglass manufacturer currently headquartered in Vegas.

Did you get to see Jack's (Mr. Roush to me) collection of RR Merlins?

About the Merlins, no. They were ramping up the aluminium 427's when I was there.
About the other guy you alluded to, my other vintage race mustang is one of his. A real '66 G.T.350 that's been a race car since the 70's.
