"We believe the B717s will eventually fly for Delta. Southwest wants to keep a single fleet type and, as indicated in this article, and will be pulling flights from smaller cities. Delta just ordered 100 larger B737-900 aircraft of its indicated 200 aircraft requirement. "We believe the 86 B717s at AirTran, currently on lease from Boeing, will be traded in to Boeing for more Southwest B737's. Expect Boeing to then lease or sell the B717s to Delta, perhaps as a second, but yet unannounced, part of the recent B737 order from Delta to Boeing.
"This would be consistent with DAL's plan to limit capital expenditures while opportunistically upgrading the Delta fleet. It would also explain why DAL did not announce orders for smaller aircraft to satisfy part of its 200 aircraft total need.
"This decision by Southwest and our assumed moves by Delta would both seem be in the best interests of these two airlines."

I'm a fan!!! !

minus 10 737-700
minus 3 737-800

That's all 737-700s...
flat at best.

I guess the A319 will be the go-to hot and high niche market airframe, no need for both...

Not sure what you're asking.

Dal paid right around $40M/jet for the 737-900ER, give or take some change...
(don't forget Boeing owes money for the 787 delay...)

Those prices are all in, with engines.
The engine deal would have been broken out in the 8-K, or a separate 8-K, there is no such document.

Poetic justice eh,

DAL DC-9 -> Valuejet -> Airtran
Airtran orders MD95 -> 717
Airtran -> Southwest, 717 -> DAL

The circle of life is complete....

Kind of felt like fall past two mornings....that mean we got an AE coming?

Hoping for some movement; any positive movement.

The engine price is broken out somewhere. I think it is something like $30M/jet, $10M for a set of engines or something real close to that. I do think you are correct with the $40M all in price.

That is random!

Vacancies:

ATL330A- 6
ATL330B- 5

DTW330A- 12
DTW330B- 5

SEA330A- 12
SEA330B- 5

Surpluses-

ATL777A- 15
ATL777B-15

Should cause some good cascading in the right direction overall. Not sure how the 777 surplus will hit ATL though.
