Bingo, the 738 was going to do augmented flying into deep South America sometime in 2008, but the plans changed. That's according to PR who was the fleet manager at the time.

Cheers

Were the planes going to be modified? The 737-700 can't get to deep SA, much less an 800.

This is very sad news. I had the distinct pleasure of flying with Bryan very early in my career. He was a consummate airman. Truly, a pilot's pilot. He will be missed.

The 320 training program hasn't been streamlined into Delta's AQP training syllabus as of yet. The SIC isn't a big deal for anything but you'll have to go through the all the hoops if you upgrade.

Not on the 88.

Just got an email about a 73 crash up in Canada. Anyone have any news?

Was a 737-200 operated by First-air - a Canadian company. Crashed in the Far North of Canada.

I love how you earn a PIC type. "Well, just need you to kind of taxi a little bit from the left seat, then shoot a visual approach and then do an RTO from the left seat."

Now you too can be a Captain! :D

700 was going to Manaus Brazil. Depends on your definition of deep. I think Brazil requires both pilots to be pic type rated. I know the 800 didn't type both pilots until we planned on doing those routes (2007 time frame). Also, there was a lot of talk during that time of Boston to western Europe on the 700. Ex. Bos-Shannon.
