I did not expect a 73-9 order at all. |

Agreed... The 900 is a pig. Will avoid it like the plague, and so will our pax. It will probably not even be able to operate out of LGA or DCA with any sort of load.

That wouldn't exactly break my heart not to have to operate out of those places....now, if we can just figure out a way to avoid JFK I'm totally in!
Buzz; If you flew hard time trips, you would love JFK. I've been in a 3hr conga line there, I'm sure there are others who have been in line longer. Of course with the stroke of a pen, the gov't has basically outlawed the 3hr line. |

We literally were quelling riots in the back of the jet. I've never seen an operation so F'ed up. The ramp tower guy kept screwing up his sequences, and once someone got to LA, ground wouldn't talk to them for 20-30 minutes. By the time a guy was approaching #1 hours later, his clearance would drop out and he'd have to pull off to pick up a new one and pray he could get back in line at some point. Its not worth the extra pay in my mind. Its a cluster.:D |

I did not expect a 73-9 order at all. There is this airline... They are a longtime Boeing customer. They were the launch customer for the 737 They are the launch customer for a new-gen Boeing wide-body. They fly a mixed A320/737 fleet. They are financially secure. They are a legacy airline, not an LCC. They ordered the A320NEO with the GTF. Thats the jet with the big, long-term ROI. Now if we get a handful of 737-900ERs, say 10-20, to tie us over 'till the 321NEO comes out, I'd say thats a sound financial move...Especially if the jets are "free." Cheers George |

Hmmmmm interesting. 737-900"ER" has a range (per BA website) of 3265NM. The 737-800 has a range of 3115NM.. ER??? Really? But it would carry 18 more people those additional 150 miles so we would have THAT going for us...
CAL's 737-900s have two less seats than the 767-200s. |
