But enough about the Airbus, 767 and 88, this is a day dedicated to the 737-900.

I missed something... what's up with the 737-900?

TIC, yes. But just going off what the Airbus guys say. :D

FWIW, I fly the airplane with the largest most crooked control wheel in the fleet probably. It's always in a bank turn even when I match the little lines drawn in white out together.

But enough about the Airbus, 767 and 88, this is a day dedicated to the 737-900.

Ok. I'll say it again. It has TWO tailstrike indicators

Bloomberg reporting Delta order 100 737-900s

I flew the 737-900 at CAL. I'll take my old Douglas DC-9-88 with an APU and the left pack on the hook over that jet. Yuck!

Would make sense to split it. Plus AS already flies the 900 so we can get all of our manuals from them once we buy em :D

I keed I keed.

Hmmmmm interesting. 737-900"ER" has a range (per BA website) of 3265NM. The 737-800 has a range of 3115NM.. ER??? Really? But it would carry 18 more people those additional 150 miles so we would have THAT going for us...

I'm still hoping it was a planed leak to get the price down on some new airbus Neos, and that we will never see any 737-900s.

Advantages of the 737-900.
  • Saves the "redundant" brakes and tires the 757 uses to get stopped
  • Easy to perform V1 cuts with a rotation speed near cruise speed
  • Never exceeds 4 degrees nose up, or 2 degrees nose down, for the pitch adverse
  • Engines could be managed with a single pole switch, full power & off
  • Too much airplane on too little wing makes for a comfortable transition for Douglas drivers
  • RJ like cabin accommodations make our product more "seamless"
  • Airspace is less crowded in the low to mid 20's, where this airplane reaches it apogee. There are fewer turbocharged Cessna aircraft to get in the way (their new product line all outperfoms this jet)
  • Less opportunity for confusion on the ground. This airplane only has to find its way to the "longest available."
FTB, we can hope some fall out of the upcoming debacle at SWA results in the 717's getting shaken loose.

Awesome! I was getting worried about going to a new category, now I'll feel a little bit more comfortable in a transition.

That is some funny stuff Bar.

The MD90 engines have more thrust than the engines on the 737-900ER - that should tell you something right there.

My wife used to be an ops agent for Alaska Airlines. She was responsible for load planning and weight and balance - she hated the 900. The CG envelope was so narrow at max weights, moving one bag from the front pit to the back pit could move the CG from outside the forward limit to outside the aft limit. Great

That was with the original 900 though, hopefully the ER version is better.
