Oh fun, we're getting the red letter treatment on Drudge for the second time in as many weeks when we got it for supposedly screwing over soldiers.
Drudgereport.com USATODAY: Delta flies anti-semitic skies, new venture will not allow Jews Unfortunately, the media will spin it to gain the most views possible. "Delta isn't being forced to include Saudi Arabian Airlines into its Sky Team Alliance." I didn't realize Sky Team was owned by Delta. |

Nothing to do with Delta. It is not a rule or policy that Delta made, but a rule made be Saudi Arabia that applies to all airlines. It is not the prerogative of Delta or any airline to break the laws of a sovereign nation regardless of the law. Similar to denying a person flying to China who doesn't have a visa.

Seems like a lot of "what if" in regard to this story. But to your point if the country of destination won't issue documentation to allow a person to fly there, and documentation in this case it based on one's religion I'm curious if a Jewish pilot would not be allowed to fly the trip.
It will be interesting to see how Delta handles this though, now that its gone viral. |
Flew with a guy that had an Israeli stamp in his passport going into KWI. Let's just say it took a while for him to get to the hotel.

The Arabs have been playing these games for decades. I remember flying from Tel Aviv to Riyadh and we had to go through Cypress so that our flight plan wouldn't show that we'd departed Israel.

Do the FTDT rumors (so far) suggest that intl 24hr SC will be phased out? Or do they convieniently leave that out?
I've been wondering the same thing. Maybe some of the other guys on here that follow the issue more closely have some idea if the 24 hr short call may go away. That would certainly affect my next move... |

No. What's scary is DALPA is still teaching us how the negotiations process works.

The way I interpret it, Saudi Arabia has the problem, not Delta. The Rabbi can boycott the Saudi Kingdom and not buy their oil if he chooses. Just my opinion.
What's SWA's policy? Oh, that's right, they don't fly over there. BTW, I'm switching to the mighty MD-88 since I can't hold the 320 yet in MSP. |

This issue has been around a long time. Lots of military guys on this forum can tell you about using multiple passports and not having Israeli stamps if you later need to go into Arab countries.
