Aircraft orders
Anyone have any insight as to what Delta is waiting for in terms of placing an aircraft order? Seems a lot of aircraft slots are getting taken up by other airlines. I know we are in talks with all the manufacturers, but how hard can it be to figure out what aircraft type is going to work for us? Do you think Delta has figured out what they want & are now trying to negotiate the best price?

From what I've heard from Boeing guys, my guess is you better keep as many as possible to make the change. Once you've been assimilated into the Borg, you can kill off as many as you like. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it and it WILL make you lazy.
Boeing has made me lazy enough thank you. I don't want the airplane to do EVERYTHING for me. You can have the baguette. |

Thanks for the info. I loved flying the old Stinson's. I flew two, one with a Franklin and the other was a super stinson. Here's an old pic from the beginning of my flight from SE Alaska to Eastern Washington....

No surprise that NYC 7ER went so junior. It's a great gig if you are an Int'l lineholder, but to commute to reserve in that category is pretty much giving your life to Mother Delta. You're basically on the hook for 12 days of SC per month should scheduling so desire. You have to be able to cover all 3 NY area airports, and could fly all over the clock and have ZERO idea of what time of day you may be tagged to fly. 5am LGA domestic trip? Maybe? 5pm departure for an all nighter to Europe? Maybe? 11pm departure to S. America? Maybe? and of course you may get to do the 130am flight to GEO. Don't worry, you may be absolutely exhausted and have no idea what time of day it is or where you are, but it's legal, so you'll be ok. The 24 hour short call has to go away, I still can't believe ALPA signed off on this one, although I guess at the time, int'l and domestic categories were separate. Let's get this fixed.

Sinca, what is your Avatar pic? Looks like "One Lap of the Confederate States" or the airports which get a one hour ground hold when a cloud passes within thirty miles of the tower in Atlanta.
It is actually the route map of One Lap of America (Cannonball run). It was in May and I just haven't changed my avatar. I keep toying with running in it, as my friends have won it 2 years in a row. Link if anyone is interested: One Lap of America - the Official Webpage Avatar changed |
