Just reading the after action reports of the Paris Air Show. Basically every manufacturer is now sold out through 2018 - 2019. So if Delta intended to order any jets, there now aren't but a handful of slots open anywhere the rest of this decade.
Several apparent trends (based on current available information):
Flying old airplanes on a short term basis is a tactical decision. Getting locked out of the market behind 1,000 jets ordered by your competitors is strategic. Many have noticed Republic has placed an order for two nearly identically performing airplanes, the A319NEO and C Series. That makes no sense unless they're figuring on using them in a separate operation. |

I am not as worried as you for two reasons First I do not believe this pilot group will allow the sale of 100 seat scope.Too many of us have been harmed by scope sales in the past. For the most part the captains I fly with agree with that. Second, a lot of those orders are not firm orders. I think when the time comes a Delta comes to the table with firm orders the slots will open. Remember the boys in Seattle owe us. Also do not under estimate Anderson and his ability to put Airbus against Boeing. I don't care who we order airplanes from, whether it is A, B, or C, it will be flown by mainline pilots. |

Yet additional proof that there is no such thing as thread jacking the L&G.

You can tie up airline delivery slots for virtually no cost. Delta is still sitting on a bunch of delivery positions for 777's as a example. 18 months prior to the deliver position they have to for the first time put up serious money. Actual deliveries for a airline the size of Delta can be ordered and delivered at almost any time regardless of book orders. If Delta goes to Boeing or Airbus with a large order they will get the aircraft they want when they want regardless of if the book orders show them sold out or not. Both Boeing and Airbus insert lots of white tail positions into their build schedule and the can quickly restructure deliveries and production. They will not lose a order from Delta over delivery slots or timeframe for aircraft. Its simply a non issue. |

There are paragraphs and paragraphs of text regarding Reserve in the ORIGINAL proposal that was published requesting comments.
The things I think you are interested in are: • A short-call reserve duty period in which the crewmember is not called to report to work may not exceed 14 hours. • Conversion from long-call to short- call reserve assignment must be preceded by a legal rest period. They are also recommending a RAP system like fNW used. (More improvements from those damn Northies) Side note: Reserve was one of only two areas of agreement reached by management and labor representatives on the ARC. |
