And one more:

Get this, the 3800 hp engine on that airplane burned 75gph... of water. 400gph of fuel.

The ATA just revised the year outlook UP about 40% to 7 Billion in profits. That's 40% more profit than they expected just a few months ago. Somebody's making money...

That is so true. I added Ferd's name and one more pic to boot.

But I thought they gave all Airbus pilots malaria during training?

The global economy is in meltdown, the US economy is sliding back into recession, and we are looking at a huge shift of wealth to a select few in our country. Things will seem bad for a long time to come for most people. But not to all.

The airline industry will continue to make money, be profitable, and sell tickets no matter what. We have stopped chasing the low margin passengers and instead focused on the money. The money is still there, it's just not with the plumbers and the steel workers any more. It's all shifted to the top %2 of the new economic class. We will survive into whatever the next phase is, because we market to them.

Will attorneys lower their rates due to the recession? No. Will your doctor charge you less? Your dentist? No. Will the Board of Directors at Delta vote to cut their pay? No. Will we allow ourselves to be lumped in with the bag throwers, fuelers and ticket takers who will see their salaries slump along with the rest of the middle class? Or will we use the leverage we have and DEMAND to be paid a respectable salary for our incomparably high responsibilities?

The company can afford huge pay raises for us. They will say they can't. They will say that while paying themselves millions in bonuses. They will make even more if we buy what they are selling. I am personally very close to a withdrawal of enthusiasm with respect to this job. If we don't have something very soon, the company will start getting what they are paying for. Half a pilot.
I agree 100%. I used to bend over back to help the company. Reminds me of a time scheduling ended up with a big SNAFU with a military charter due to poor planning. On my offday I jumpseated on an offline carrier across the Atlantic to Frankfurt, caught ground transportation to Frankfurt Hahn...waived my rest and operated to the middle-east to save the company embarassment and loss of revenue. I was told the military paid us quarter of a million dollars for that charter flight. I even caught a bus from Frankfurt to Hahn to avoid the company a huge taxi bill! I am sure I'm not the only one.

Another time we had an issue which popped up just before oceanic entry near St. Johns en-route to Europe. We could proceed to Europe or dump gas and put her down in Canada....totally within our rights. We got the airplane to Europe ontime and safely. Had we 'flown-the-book-and-only-the-book', we would have done a costly diversion.

I bet they don't teach this $hit in Business 101 these days. Keep ****ing the pilot group off and they'll end up paying a lot more than what we are owed.

It's almost impossible to go through what this pilot group has gone through and not change. I used to fly sick to help the company. Now if I need ANY medication to fly, I call in sick, period. If we're going to be late, I really don't care (is the beacon on?).

ALPA has one shot at this, if they mess it up, they very well could be on the way out. Delta will probably resort to AMR type tactics for C12, and if they do it will cost them, the dog can only be beaten for so long.........

No offense to you, but I can't believe anybody would fly sick. If I can't pass the IMSAFE checklist, I don't fly.
