It's almost impossible to go through what this pilot group has gone through and not change. I used to fly sick to help the company. Now if I need ANY medication to fly, I call in sick, period. If we're going to be late, I really don't care (is the beacon on?).
ALPA has one shot at this, if they mess it up, they very well could be on the way out. Delta will probably resort to AMR type tactics for C12, and if they do it will cost them, the dog can only be beaten for so long.........

+1! But as a Devil's advocate, I must say WE ARE COMPLETELY AT FAULT for giving it all up.
It is much easier to give up benefits than regain them. I know, its human nature to be timid and frightened when a "trained" manager/leader tells you that the sky is falling. Thus giving up the world.
At this point, "the sky is falling" again. As you can see, right in time for our regain or contract negotiations:
1) the flying is slowly dissipating or transferring to our partners
2) we are getting less aircraft
3) we are laying off other groups
4) we are not hiring pilots while it is apparent we should for the future, unless we are shrinking (RA likes less pilots)
5) we are reducing our footprint-->reduce to profitability
Folks, this is no coincidence. Our expectations are being formed and managed. They cant control the cost of OIL but they think they can offset their costs by lowering our pay because they know we, as pilots, can be weak and greedy.
Its time to make a stand. We help Delta be the best while Delta takes care of us.

This holding a line thing is pretty cool. I managed to swap all of my trips for commutable ones. Now I just need to learn how to pick up something. Senior bidders keep taking all the trips I want to pick up. I'm learning all about the PCS functions I've been ignoring for the last 3 years.
Hat haters response in 3...2...1...
Not to change the subject, but has anyone stayed at the hotel in AUA lately. I think it's the ******** but I could be wrong. I have a trip there next month with 24 hrs to kill. Does anyone know if they offer a daily all inclusive package for the crews to purchase?
Thanks

I had looked at the photo in question earlier and wondered how low or aft that seat mud be such that you don't see the pilot but I guess it actually may be telling more of the story...

The sad truth is that most DAL pilots won't ever get to the top wrung of the ladder, and as such, will make less money than a stagnating Southwest FO.
Carl
A stagnating FO at Southwest is averaging 145,000 per year and averaging 18 days off per month. Average! That's only about 40,000 per year less than I make and I'm at the top of the heap here at DAL.
