I've already downsized mine. Granted, I bought my earlier home on non-Delta income but to make ends meet in CA, 70 hour guarantees at the current pay for an 11-year guy is damn near impossible. I don't know how more junior folks do it.

Dynamic List anyone?:D But, as I've said before.....I'll believe Alaska when I see it. They are way to expensive and the bidding war will be ugly. But, I was also the guy who would have wagered his house that it was NWA and Continental:D AMR? no SWA? doubtful United? no Us Air? no Jet Blue? no Delta might want a contract by the amendable date to go after someone else since most everybody is too busy to try it. We'll see. P.S. It would be REALLY expensive for us to go after Alaska! |
30%, then a Herman Cain. (9,9,9) :)

If you want to make 12 year min res 70 hours of 88 pay equal 12 years min res pay of 78 hours at SWA then you're looking at 48% increase.
Now if you're talking reality... According to SWAPA, their average reserve makes 105 TFP per month. For the 12 year Captain, that results in a W-2 of $234,435.60. I don't know what our average MD-88 reserve Captain gets per month, but I suspect it's not a whole lot over 70. Then you're talking well over a 60% increase needed to match the average SWA reserve Captain. While we're on this, let's take a look at the average MD-88 Captain versus the average SWA Captain. Let's assume that our average MD-88 Captain gets 80 hours per month. According to SWAPA, their average pilot gets 105 TFP per month (yes, the same as their reserves). So we're still looking at an average Captain W-2 of $234,435.60. Our 12 year MD-88 Captain at 80 hours per month is getting a W-2 of $160,972.80. Percentage increase needed for parity with SWA = 45.5%. |

I believe that this looks a bit like an act of desperation on DALPA's part. Guys had about a month to fill out the survey. If they didn't do it then, they probably aren't going to do it now. Very sad that someone can't take two hours and give their opinion. Lord knows we've all heard the complainers rant for more than two hours in the cockpit about how things should be...
I just can't imagine being that disenfranchised. 42% plus 5,5,5. MC |
who cares? 99% 17, 17, 17
dont ask, dont get. Go back and redo those surveys, you got about 65 hours left. |
