I count 864 pilots hired in a 10 year period at Delta and that's DAL, NWA and post merger DAL post 9/11.

Actually, it's worse than that - I remember being in training at DAL when they stopped hiring in 2001 - we had just gone over 10,000 pilots. I think we only had 7500 on the seniority list when we merged. Personally, I don't think I'll ever make it back to my pre-merger seniority number (I think it was around 6700) - I'll be 65 mandatory retired before then.

I feel your pain....It's going to take me 17 years to get to the mid point of our list, and that's if it remains a 12000 pilot plus list!!
Doubt that's gonna happen....OLD GUYS PLEASE RETIRE...I've flown with 2 over 60 in the last three trips.

I think your number is low. By my count there's 1089 still on the list that were hired or flowed 2007-2010. There were a few more that that hired, but there has been some flow/training and voluntary attrition.

You're right on the overall impact, though. It's called the lost decade for a reason.
