Delta just signed a contract with yet another DCI carrier....
NEWS RELEASE FOR INTERNAL RELEASE August 23, 2011 Contact: Corporate Communications, 314-222-4323 GoJet Airlines Announces Additional Flying and New Partnership With Delta Air Lines 12 Bombardier CRJ-700s added to GoJet’s fleet as Delta Connection GoJet Airlines LLC announced today a new partnership with Delta Air Lines that includes adding 12 Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft to the GoJet fleet. The dual-class aircraft will fly as part of the Delta Connection program. Under the terms of the agreement, GoJet will begin service with the 12 Delta-owned CRJ-700 aircraft in the first quarter of 2012. The total number of GoJet aircraft in service will rise to 37, almost a 50-precent increase in the airlines’ current fleet. GoJet currently operates 25 aircraft as part of the United Airlines Express regional service. “We are pleased to add GoJet to the Delta Connection family of airlines, we believe GoJet to be a high quality airline and will be a great addition to the Delta network” remarked Don Bornhorst, President of Delta Connection. “Today’s announcement is exciting news for GoJet Airlines as it not only expands our fleet, but it also marks our second partnership with a major airline. We are committed to this new code-sharing agreement with Delta, one of the largest airlines in the world,” said Rick Leach, President and CEO of GoJet Airlines and President of Trans States Holdings. “Since its launch six years ago, GoJet has strived to be a leader in the regional airline industry by providing our customers with safe, reliable and efficient service on every flight. In our role as a United Express carrier we are continually recognized for providing an excellent product with some of the most professional flight crews in the skies. Now, through this growth we have the opportunity to partner with Delta Air Lines and bring that same great service into this new relationship. We are also proud to grow our fleet of Bombardier aircraft, which have proven to be excellent performers in the marketplace.” This is one jagged, gut-rentching pill to swallow. Is this in fact accurate? Anyone else able to corroborate this? |

Whether Comair is wholly owned or not, look at the difference in pay scales between the two and the seniority of the pilot groups and you'll have your answer.
Look at the pricetag of the jets we "own" that we contract out, and guarantee a profit on and I would say the payscale and seniority of pilots who have been flying Delta pax safely for many years (Comair) is really minimal on the cost side of the equation. Back to my original question. If you really believe that your (or others') hourly rate is the "make or break" for the company, you will have a long and low paying job in the airline biz. |

Hey Bar,
Just a quick question. Would the fact that we're S3C on these guys (plus no S2) enter into this decision vs Comair? A cut in travel benefits is a cut in our total compensation package. Ferd |

Next contract I say the title Delta Connection goes away and DCI has to fly under their own individual livery (ASA separate from Compass and so on) and none can resemble Delta's.

ASA received an internal memo today telling them about CRJ700's being removed from their fleets. Sounds like some are coming from ASA.

Super, Yep, and a lot of the big-brain guys on the DALPA forum keep saying the RJ is dead and will self correct. No need to waste any negotiating capitol on the RJ issue. Ha!!! This just goes to show how wrong they are. Maybe the 50 seat RJ is indeed dying, but you can live a pretty long (although not always worthwhile) life on life-support. And even if the 50 seater dies a tortuously slow death - the 70 and 76 seaters will still be around. Ready to outsource Pilot jobs in a heartbeat - right up to the absolute maximum allowed by our pitiful Scope. Total Bummer. Scoop |
