I am going from single to married and hope to be expecting a kid next year so I want to know what my best option would be for that kind of change. Currently on the HSA Ruby plan but want to know what people think would be better for possibly having a newborn next year. And no I can't get Tri-Care, at least not till I get elected ;)

I got the Gold and the wife just had a kid. $1500 out of pocket and she gave birth in Walnut Creek Ca, where all the rich people live.

Just out of curiosity, and since we are rightfuly due SWA+ reasonable premiums in all areas, what do SWA pilot peeps pay monthly for family coverage as well as out of pocket for a child birth?

I'm not an insurance expert, but I did attend the ALPA R&I seminar last year.

The best gouge I could figure about insurance was that Gold is probably the best if you have a family and no special problems. Silver is OK if you're young, healthy and single. The other options can be way better if you have a particular deal, like RX you know will be thousands, or similar Dr bills.

FWIW, rumor has it that an AE may be posted today.

Heard from a few different guys out on the line yesterday, but then again we all know how rumors go.

The reputation of all rumors rests on if an AE comes out today because if it does then yes we now all know how rumors go- they become true! :D

Pick what you need at the moment. Each of those events (marriage, having a kid) is a "life event" so you can change you can go through enrollment again when those happen. This INCLUDES changing your FSA contribution - I had a kid in November and even though we had just completed open enrollment, I went through it again to add the child to the policy.

That being said, I'm on the Gold HRA. Works fine, lasts long time. The enrollment calculator said it was the cheapest for me for the last year's medical expenses (which didn't include the birth, that was a previous year)

I don't remember, did we get a text from ALPA about the AE last time? (I'm talking about the ALPA notification system for bid results, etc).
