Just wait, you'll be turned off of ALPA after reading the next contract TA.

Maybe I will be. We'll see.

It sounds like you have a pretty good knowledge of what the future holds. Any stock tips to share?

So here we have a strong ALPA supporter saying that all this DPA vs ALPA garbage has turned you off to something you've never supported in the first place. There is definitely a new pattern and tactic emerging here. If only ALPA would try the tactic of honest communication and member representation.

Carl

I'm really not a strong ALPA supporter, Carl. What I do support is getting a good contract next year. I don't think that this is the time to switch unions. It may be in the future. My past posts have indicated that.

I've actually supported some of your positions in the past. Even if I haven't fully agreed with them, I considered it a good counterbalance to those who would blindly accept anything that ALPA offers. It was a little like "good cop/bad cop". Lately, however, it's more like "good cop/crazy cop". The bluster never ends, and it's gotten old.

Furthermore, I don't recall belittling anyone who supports DPA-- maybe you could show me a post where I did that. (I may have belittled the black helicopter crowd here; that's a little different, IMO).

My apologies to all for continuing this on the L&G thread; I'll make any future comments on the DPA thread.

Since DALPA has already stated that we will not even see a summary of our opening position, we wont know approximately what it was until we all see the TA. Even if we vote NO on the TA, then immediately vote in the DPA, the best we could ever do would be our opening position...regardless of who the bargaining agent is.

If we don't vote DPA in prior to the exchange of openers in April, our futures will hinge on how strong that opener is...the opener that no member will get to see. After openers are exchanged, DPA will only be able to influence the NEXT contract.

Carl

From P2P.
Question: Several first officers have told me that they will sign up for DPA if they believe our contract survey to be weak or ALPA's opener with Delta to be too low. Are we going to know what we are asking for in our opening exchange with management or the results of the contract survey?

Answer: 8-1-11. The contract survey will be just that, a survey. Every pilot should complete it. We need 100% participation in order for the MEC to move forward with what the pilots want. Don't expect our contract survey or opener to be published until the opener has been exchanged. It is not good negotiating strategy to tell the other party what you intend to open with.

That's fine dude. You should only vote for a new union if it makes sense in your own logical mind...not because of thread hijacks by ALPA or DPA supporters.

Carl

I guess I accidently combined two points into one. First, it just gets tiring to see every single thread, and subject, get broken down to the exact same conversation; it's tiring to read after a while.

Second, I wouldn't ever vote for or against a union based upon a thread hijacks. But some of the logic I read and hear (primarily on the DALPA board) is beyond obtuse. That's what worries me.

LSU vs BAMA

After Nick Saban dies and enters the Pearly Gates, God takes him on a tour. He shows him a little two-bedroom house with a faded Alabama banner hanging from the front porch. "This is your house, coach," God says happily."Most people don't get their own houses up here." Nick looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the one sitting on top of the hill. It's a huge, beautiful two-story mansion with white marble columns and little patios under all the windows. LSU flags line both sides of the sidewalk and a huge LSU banner hangs between the marble columns. "Thanks for the house, God," Nick says. "But let me ask you a question. I get this little two-bedroom house with a faded banner and Miles gets a mansion with LSU banners and LSU flags flying all over the place. Why is that?"

God looks at him seriously for a moment, then says, "Nick, that's not Miles's house. That's mine."
