AE will be interesting to watch. Reduction of 50 in each seat on the 767 in ATL with no like increase on the 7ER in ATL. Many will probably get absorbed by the 330 growth.
More 777 and 744 reductions. Darn trip parking! :D |

Exactly 362 vacancies and 362 displacements. Not exactly an example of wild growth....and when you consider the churn and heartaches caused by bases/categories closing and shrinking, I'd just as soon do without this AE.....I'm not sure why so many were excitedly anticipating it.
Pin action in Atlanta is going to be ugly. Since the 737 seems to be the extraction point for Boeing refugees, I expect it will go even more senior. The big question will be how many extra they will carry on the Atlanta 88, 7NG and ER. Wish we could know. It would help for those of us getting displaced again. |
OK, so this AE looks like a wash to me.
Any idea of WHEN we might actually be interested in increasing our flying and staffing? For the love of god, can we at least do some minimal hiring to replace the retirements, I know its not growth that I and we all want, but why do we have to shrink? Discalimer: I am happy to still have a job(being at the bottom of the list and all) but some replacment hiring would be a step in the right direction! No increase in flying.....hmmpf! |

There really is no difference.
You can call either rep if you have a question or problem. The origin of the terms comes from the ALPA Constitution. To run for captain rep you have to be a captain. Same for F/O rep. I imagine it was done to keep senior captains from becoming too dominant in the LECs/MECs. It was designed that way in the name of "fairness" but both are equally your rep whether you are a capt or FO. It could be done in other ways however, the "seniority block" representation method always seems to get a lot of discussion but that has drawbacks as well. ie = The reps would always tend to be from the largest bases. |
Well, I guess Memphis's time finally ran out. Not unexpected, but frustrating. Good luck to all the new commuters out there

Expect that to be fixed on this next displacement AE. Air France reported today ... guess what:It is typical with ugly bids to hold the bad news until just before the Weekend / Holiday so no one has to answer the phone.
Expect leaves of absence to be offered, so effectively you can furlough yourself if desired, rather than commute to seventy hours of pay for six days of short call. Anyone know when management is going to show up in the lounge? There is little we can do other than voice our displeasure about the continued transfer of our work (while Delta pays Air France & DCI), but at least it would be cathartic to share our thoughts, photos of the kids with no shoes, etc ... . I'll bet you that you're wrong as usual about the LOA's/furlough stuff.
There were efforts made by ALPA and the Company to mitigate these effects that took them off the top instead of the bottom. I'm grateful. How has your relative seniority changed? Have you moved up, or down, the pay scale as a result of equipment changes? |

Well, it does not look like furloughs. It does look like an unpopular base is growing, which will be good for ambitious people who like to commute to "out of seniority" awards. 80KtsClamp should put in his Captain bid.

You arent a politician, are you. When I was based up there, I really enjoyed it. Problem is, where I live, you cant get there from here anymore (well I could commute to newark, eff that) and I'm not 2 hop commuting anywhere. I am glad NYC er is growing, they have been shrinking lately. Maybe your and acl's interpretation of the new jv language was correct, I sure hope so. |

I'm not wrong, and the numbers were on. When fleet and block hours trend one direction, pilot staffing trends the same direction.

Have you moved up, or down, the pay scale as a result of equipment changes? I've voluntarily moved "down" the payscale, but am making more money and getting better days off as a result. Relatively system wide I've moved up almost 3% since the integration. Thanks to longevity increases and the JCBA, I'm making considerably more money since my involuntary displacement (where I could have reinstated right after training on the 737). I'm tickled silly over my move to the 320, though. |
