The AE will be out today or tomorrow at the latest, it's on the desk of AH right now. BTW, I was scampering through the halls of the 4th floor and overheard this little tidbit from Popeye as he was talking to 3 other suits..."no guam base on THIS AE".....the 3 suits smirked and shook thier heads in disappointment. AH says nothing "major" on this AE other than what's already been announced, small staffing increase in SEA but was tight lipped about which seat/type.

BTW if they did the GUN base, I may bite. I would commute from Tokyo where my wife would be working. :D |

Probably the 330 in SEA since they did not fill those positions last AE.

Two kinds of people in Guam: military retirees who buy everything on base, and everybody else who wanks about the high cost of living.

I just don't see a GUM base. So.......standby for a GUM base.

There is a little bit of internsic value in F9, but the biggest gain from selling them is the cash drain. F9 is burning cash, and BB is trying to stop that. Selling them is the easiest way to do that since they are part of RJET Holdings. They could spin them off separately, but they would still have many of their back office functions being done by RJET holdings in addition to an integrated pilot list.
Now is the time for them to sell them. They have a fence keeping the lists effectively separate. Cash burn is their major issue, and if anyone is willing to buy them, if works well for RJET. They have a DEN base that will have to compete with UCAL and LUV. That is not a good prospect, and their ability to control RASM in that market is Nil. It is basically that was in MKE as well. As mentioned by Scambo, they are too small to have any control in the markets they do have a bigger presence in. This issue you see with RJET will be popping up with the smaller niche carriers as these mega network carriers like UCAL, DAL, LUV et al start to fine tune their pricing and route strategy. It is the result and benefit we has pilots really want to see from these mergers. UCAL has supreme pricing power with their route network. DAL's is right up there too, and we will continue to fine tune it. AMR is feeling the effects of these two carriers. RJET, NKS, V America etc, are all in the same boat. Nu |
Not a rumor about staffing in SEA, heard from AH's mouth first hand (although he did say SMALL)....also, I'd bite on Guam as well, but only in the left seat. I can barely afford to keep the lights on on the mainland on FO pay....no way it'd pay on GUAM. Just bid RSV and go out 18 days at a time.

I was a bit surprised when I went through CQ this year and saw that. I'm an ER guy so no big deal (although I thought that SPOT was a bit convoluted and promoted some bad ideas, (going direct a fix without instruction because I'm supposed to "expect it"?)
Anyway - I think it's more about having one CQ lesson plan for all the B757/B767 crews than about sneaking something in. You’re probably correct about having one lesson plan for all, but if I were a Domestic 767 guy, I wouldn’t expect or want to do what is supposed to be International stuff. The next thing they’ll have to do is plot an Orientation Chart. You are probably referring to the anticipation of skipping the first point prior to entering the Tracks. How long does it take to actually enter a direct somewhere? About 5 seconds. I’m with you, putting that in the box without executing it in anticipation of getting it is a violation waiting to happen. Yeah, I discovered some training anomalies last time through too. Example: I had several instructors (including an APD) tell me that when getting a change of takeoff point such as JFK 31 from KK to full length, that as long as the change increases the runway available, the boxed items on the checklist do not need to be accomplished. Then another instructor vehemently said the contrary. Guess who was correct? You guessed it. YES you do have to do the boxed items, even if it gives you more runway length. He showed us the exact page in our manual where it states it. I’ll bet 95% of us don’t do that, nor realize that it is a requirement. Maybe that was the intent of the boxed items, but that isn’t the way it was written. |
