That's correct. The test pilot was trying to demonstrate the stall prevention feature which includes Alpha Floor. Alpha Floor is when the logic pushes the thrust to max power and locks there so recovery occurs.

Unfortunately, the test pilot was some how unaware that this feature is unavailable below 100 ft AGL, because you don't want it to activate as you are in the flare. By the time he realized it, it was too late.

Hey Johnso,

Maybe urban legend, But I was told by several of the Tolouse types that there was a "fear-of-flying" class in the back of the a/c getting their graduation ride........pretty good legend anyway........btw, how's the munchkin ?

Another great example of the Airbus bank angle limit function...also known as the wingtip.

Same Here - couldn't imagine a better final 8 weeks in any season. I remember making an offhand remark to my wife that my baseball team is done.

With or without Pujols I think they're in good shape for a run at a repeat. I think Matheny is a great hire (kept most of the staff around for continuity plus they're a really great coaching staff) - hope he doesn't have two many growing pains.

[QUOTE=forgot to bid;1087305]I'm with Bar, end EWR as a part of NYC. If you look at the EWR flying it's not NYC flying, it's one leg out of EWR to ATL, 4 days in ATL, one leg back to EWR on the last flight. EWR should just be ATL flying, not NYC.

Because look at the trips, 4-day shows at 0515 and ends at 2010.

And the guys that live in PA and NJ should just jump on a flight out of PHL to ATL to start their trips? Like someone said these trips are rarely in open time.

At least he didn't hit the engine, that would have to go in the logbook.

Oh whatever. The Airbus is fine. I know for a fact they can fly out with just 1 wingtip thingy.

It's those X-Wing fighters. Man those things are tyrannical little bastards to land... on a WWII era flight deck.

Scoop

Fair enough Scoop (and sailing mentioned something similar happening before) so that's an understandable complaint.

So to me two options:

A) Separate NYC and EWR, or

B) Pay for transportation for reserve pilots from JFK/LGA to EWR for pilots sitting short call. So get your bottom to JFK/LGA and we'll pay for the cab to EWR.
Now option B might not sound fair to the folks in PA and NJ. But I took a look and counted up the NYC 88, 73N and 7ER trips that originate and end in EWR.

For the 88 I found 13 pairings were awarded in December out of 16. For the 73N there were 0 pairings. At least according to the bid package. For the 7ER there were 43 pairings awarded out of 1405 pairings.

If that is correct that means for the 88 a whopping 92% and on the ER 97% originate out of an airport east of the Hudson River.

But for the reserve pilot group they have to be 100% of the time prepared to make it over to EWR. Which could be problematic for the early 88 report times. The ER is mostly just going to AMS from what I can tell.

So have DAL pay for the cab since the assumption is 90%+ of your trips are out of LGA/JFK. $120. At worse you'll pay it 13 times on the 88 and 43 times on the ER but given the show time and propensity for commuters to fly in on the ER I bet it wouldn't happen often. But if it did that's $6,720 for the month of December for walk up rate for a NYC cab with tolls and tip. Sure it's cheaper on contract.
So that's my $0.02.
