So to me two options:

A) Separate NYC and EWR, or

B) Pay for transportation for reserve pilots from JFK/LGA to EWR for pilots sitting short call. So get your bottom to JFK/LGA and we'll pay for the cab to EWR.
Now option B might not sound fair to the folks in PA and NJ. But I took a look and counted up the NYC 88, 73N and 7ER trips that originate and end in EWR.

For the 88 I found 13 pairings were awarded in December out of 16. For the 73N there were 0 pairings. At least according to the bid package. For the 7ER there were 43 pairings awarded out of 1405 pairings.

If that is correct that means for the 88 a whopping 92% and on the ER 97% originate out of an airport east of the Hudson River.

But for the reserve pilot group they have to be 100% of the time prepared to make it over to EWR. Which could be problematic for the early 88 report times. The ER is mostly just going to AMS from what I can tell.

So have DAL pay for the cab since the assumption is 90%+ of your trips are out of LGA/JFK. $120. At worse you'll pay it 13 times on the 88 and 43 times on the ER but given the show time and propensity for commuters to fly in on the ER I bet it wouldn't happen often. But if it did that's $6,720 for the month of December for walk up rate for a NYC cab with tolls and tip. Sure it's cheaper on contract.
So that's my $0.02.

FTB,

Now thats more like it! :)

X-Wing still worse.

Although there is one distinct advantage to the X-Wing.

Princess Leia will bring you a tall one as long as it gets there prior to D-0.

Man, some categories.

I'll tell you what, if the F/As want to get picky with that, then I'd say it's time to start kicking them out of our lounges at night since they're not allowed to overnight in theirs. On any given night, you have a dozen F/As black-chairing it at LGA/JFK pilot rooms

Could not agree more! It's funny to see them play "nice nice" when they want something, but as soon as you do something or ask for something that is seen as an inconvenience to them, the real attitude comes out.
JFK crew room is notorious for having FAs sleeping in there..... Even though they are not allowed to be in there, you generally don't hear pilots complain, it's just annoying to see them not return the "favors" in such a small way.....especially if there is a seat in the Golden Touch van.

Maybe I'm missing something but did the FA's negotiate the Golden Touch van as a part of their contract? Because if not, the... oh wait... I don't think they did.

No beer from Princess Leia, it's a fail.

BUT, I will say the whole reason that thing crashed (according to some overly loud pilot in the ATL lounge) is because the FADEC on the A320 will automatically shut down the running engine if the other one failed.

We'll keep with the X-Wing/Battle Star Galactica theme...

Absolutely, 100% correct. If it were a 737, the airplane would have been able to continue to CLT and Leia would have handed Sully a beer at the gate.
