Much more enjoyable couple pages here... I was getting tired of wading through 90% Dalpa/DPA stuff when checking for AE rumors, what the 88 guys are up to, what life is like for the LAX step-children, which airlines are buying what, etc. etc.
It seems like it's high-time for an FTB post of "When's it gonna be the AE bid?" Friday spoof. Considering the wording of the crew resources letter... this will most certainly not be a 400 ER pilot displacement. I see there to be a continual paring down of the 767 domestic categories with movement to the ER, not ER displacements. Oh, and at least 100+ more slots in the ATL 320. :D Long live Always crowned double-breasted pilot (hattuswearus deltapilotus)! |
the google-fu is strong with me tonight:

DELTA replace Luzair for 21 Japan – Honolulu
DELTA replace Luzair for 21 Japan – Honolulu Charter Services Nov 2011 – Jan 2012
by JL Update at 0705GMT 08NOV11 Reported by Japanese Travel Press, DELTA will operate 21 charter services between Hawaii and Japan, from Nov 2011 to Jan 2012. Previously these charter flights, operating for local tour operators in Japan, were to be operated by Portuguese charter carrier Luzair. Luzair’s sole A340-300 suffered engine trouble, which requires 2 months to fix the issue. Luzair originally was chosen as a replacement of another Portuguese carrier HiFly, which also had technical issues. DELTA is chosen for its scheduled service reliability, and the Skyteam member is currently awaiting for approval from Japan’s MLIT. DELTA will offer A330-300 service between Honolulu and following 11 Japanese cities: Sapporo, Hanamaki, Sendai, Fukushima, Shizuoka, Komatsu, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Yamaguchiube, Kumamoto. |

. The way I understand it, F9 is bleeding money and has become more of a liability than an asset for Republic. I get how selling F9 would create a big liquid cash infusion, which stockholders tend to like, but if F9 is in such bad shape isn't republic going to have trouble trying to sell it off? Sure, I'm missing something here. Anyway I look at it, Republic is looking more and more like a competitor rather than a Delta connection carrier. |

I agree with your characterization of RAH, but frontier, while a good basic company suffers from a scale problem in some tough markets. IOW it's too small to effectively compete where it competes. |

They have a fence keeping the lists effectively separate. Cash burn is their major issue, and if anyone is willing to buy them, if works well for RJET. They have a DEN base that will have to compete with UCAL and LUV. That is not a good prospect, and their ability to control RASM in that market is Nil. It is basically that was in MKE as well. As mentioned by Scambo, they are too small to have any control in the markets they do have a bigger presence in. This issue you see with RJET will be popping up with the smaller niche carriers as these mega network carriers like UCAL, DAL, LUV et al start to fine tune their pricing and route strategy. It is the result and benefit we has pilots really want to see from these mergers. UCAL has supreme pricing power with their route network. DAL's is right up there too, and we will continue to fine tune it. AMR is feeling the effects of these two carriers. RJET, NKS, V America etc, are all in the same boat. |
