Puhleeez. Carmen, or whatever that rotation building software is that decides what airplane/crew/whatever does what, and it doesn't care one wit about where crews layover. This crap hasn't changed in 20 years, and it isn't gonna change anytime in the next 20 either.. unless it happens to be a good deal layover for ATL crews...

Carl, That new process was in place before our JPWA. We re wrote the scope sections of two of ALPA's largest carriers who subcontract FAR more ALPA represented flying than any other carrier. What effect did this alleged "conflict of interest" have with our negotiations then?

... exactly. Tim's trying to make something out of fighting last decade's battle. He fails to understand what got him furloughed was a lack of unity. If we had insisted on those RJ drivers having seniority numbers NOBODY would have been furloughed.

I want to meet and confer and work with our brothers to fix our profession. They are not my enemy.

I dunno. 9 hr CMH layos are not a good deal, yet the ER bid package is full of em.

There is no doubt that it is a good company, but that is because they trow money at people to work their tails off. Ask the FA's how well they are paid. I know a few that are less than joyed at the whole SWA experience.

They have matured to the point that they are going to be another airline like everyone else.
I was being sarcastic. Sorry if I didn't make that clearer.

Oh man, I just realized...what if tsqure also thought I was serious? Better hire another bodyguard just in case.

He may, and he is the one you need two bodyguards for!

The point I was trying to make is that not everyone commutes and it's unfair to focus solely on making it good for commuters. The way ALPA and the company seem to discuss issues is, Pilots want X, it costs the pilots X "dollars" or some sort of credits. By asking for the things like free hotels rooms and rearranging overnights so people overnight at home it will cost money - the company isn't going to do it out of the goodness of their heart. If the OP wanted things done for commuters, why can't there be things done for those who live in base? Obviously what I want asking for was TIC, but my concept is valid.

As ACL pointed out, I was lucky and don't have to commute now. I may have to commute in the future, who can predict the future. But as a commuter, I wasn't wishing for the PWA to be rearranged so my commute was easier. I recognized I was lucky that I was able to live in one city and work in another. Not many other industries allow that. I see how it sucks when your base closes and you're forced with choosing between several bad options.

The name of the game in the airline business these days is efficiency. I know it's not fun, but it's why we have 5am shows in LGA and moving airplanes around to reduce credit time.
