I read Boyd's analysis and he makes some glaring errors. ... So I am not trashing Boyd, but his analysis is superficial and factually incorrect in many facets. How can Delta support a debt load and pension expense that is larger than American's (proportionally the same size) and yet be doing quite well? Is it really debt and pension, or are those just the things you can attack in Chapter 11? Without revenue gains those won't be enough to make American profitable.

Downtown Pittsburgh isn't bad, and Columbia has some nice scenery! Thank goodness we're finally back in Springfield and not Hartford!
I agree. I've always heard that the downtown thing is for the senior international guys. Domestically, I don't think its that big a deal and, in fact, is oftentimes a pain in the ass. See an NYC layover at the dumpy downtown place when you land at JFK at 5:00 PM on a Friday and have 12 hours. Two hours later, you get to the dumpy downtown hotel.
Our best domestic downtown is BOS.

I just say we should be able to pick which downtowns are required and which ones are not.
But the worst to me are the long and short overnight locations in DAY... the same hotel on the short side and used to be on the long side that we complained about when we were lowly regional pilots staying there.
I mean it's one thing to stay at the Truck Stop Super 8 in Kalamazoo when you're flying a 1900D but when you're flying a 150 seater into a city then that city should certainly be large enough to find a decent SAFE location to overnight.
Pitt is pretty nice. We don't do Columbia in the -800 but, I agree, Hartford was bad! Especially after a red eye. These days, for us, BOS is great, NYC not so much, MCO is good, TPA blows, CMH is dullsville, DTW is a nice hotel but the location sucks, MSP is good, RDU is okay, etc.

TPA blows horribly... I cannot believe we stay in that area.

You don't want to be in downtown Detroit anyway, it is pretty dead when there isn't a concert or a sporting event. Plus the only decent place down there to stay is Greek Town.
