I should mention also that we have a Roth option for "employee" contributions. We keep saying "pre-tax contributions" but you can also make post-tax contributions into your DPSP subject to the same limits I referred to above.

The big difference is when you withdraw your money, you won't owe any taxes as it's paid upfront. If you can work it into your budget this can be a really good way to go, if you think your personal tax rate will be higher when you retire than it is now.

I keep swearing every year that I will switch over to making Roth contributions instead of pre-tax, but I can't seem to make myself bite the bullet and pay the taxes now. I'm just kicking the can down the road, and will probably pay the price for it later.

In figuring Roth contributions, you should also take a guess at where overall tax rates will be in 30 years. If you think they'll do nothing but go up, then Roth makes more and more sense. Most think tax rates won't be going down.
Imagine having to pay taxes at a 5% rate (versus 30% or 50%) in retirement!

Yep, bottom 20 reserve pilots in each seat will sit SC almost exclusively.

We still only have 6 max SC each month, right?

I understand you're point.

It just seems like there are two types who want a Texas hub and speak as those it's in the works or our near future:

1) those who commute to work from Texas and
2) those who live in Atlanta and think the West cost is a small market.

Makes me laugh. Texans and southerners are all the same, they are sure they live in the greatest place in the world.

If I didn't at least THINK I lived in "...the greatest place in the world...", well, then, I'd sure as heck hire a moving van (sorry, movin'). Don't YOU think you live in the greatest place in the world? If not, there's still a little room down South for a few open minded folk. The flight attendant was telling me about her eleven year old cat with a heart condition. She just spent $5000 at the vet. I was trying my best to be sympathetic. The captain came over and she repeated her story. He blurted out "why didn't you just shoot the thing?"

Too funny!!!

When the repairs on the cat cost more then a free kitten it's time to take it to pasture.

Very true!

Yes, I live in a beautiful place but I also recognize there are many other beautiful places. I just never thought of a hot place with no mountains and too many people as one of the "other beautiful places". To each their own...

Dorothy said it so well. "There's NO PLACE like home".

Shouldn't Delta be as frustrated with their RJ on-the-job training programs as well? Yet they pump money onto them.

How Alaskans see Texas...

I sometimes like to remind Texans that if you cut the state of Alaska in half, then Texas would be the third largest state :D

I guess the simple answer is that there is just this atmosphere there that is enjoyable. Plus, the sunsets in Texas cannot be beat, especially if you are sitting on a rocking chair at your ranch. :D

Guess you have never spent anytime out on the Left Coast ;) Great sunsets out here......I just need to cut a few more trees down to see mine!
