I still think commuters should get SOME advantage as we are going to FLY the Non Revs. S2B or C or something when going to work. I was born and raised in ATL. It has changed. Do I want to live here? - No. But I do so because I work for Delta Air Lines of Atlanta, GA and it makes my life simplier. My "benefits" as a non rev were achieved at the expense of many other items, and I'm not willing to be bumped by a commuter because he lives where he wants to live. Nothing personal. |

Don't ask us to sacrifice because your wife wants to live next door to your mother in law. Commuting is a choice. Btw, I am not a commuter now and hope I don't ever have to. |

But I will say, commuting takes, if not destroys, all of the fun out of the job. I'm here for ya if you're commuting but I sure hope I don't have to do it again and that nobody else has to do it again involuntarily.
Truer words never written. While at work, you wonder what you're missing at home; when at home, you're trying to figure out how to get back to work. It's no way to live. This is a fact of aviation life that I never experienced until the past couple of years, and I have to say, that after 2-3 years of commuting, a furlough doesn't look so bad anymore. |
Now, one area that I think we can all find agreement is negotiating a paid move policy that is robust enough to appropriately compensate anyone who loses their position.
However, there are some people who just won't move under any inducements. In that case, it becomes your choice and not my problem. Now, excuse me. I have to go get in my car and drive to the airport. I sign in in about an hour. |

Was it your choice to lose those things, or were they taken away? Should I not support you getting them back, because they might not affect me? Can't we all be on the same team? Don't you see it's all related? As an example: If you are on the 767 or 777, enjoy the free dry cleaning in NRT or AMS, while I suffer domestically with no crew meals (as my flight attendants get so many of them that they don't even eat them anymore, I might add). Will you not support me getting crew meals? Should I not support you getting a business class seat on flights over 12 hours? Or, maybe to be more to the point, if you were got a paid move to go to base, should I not have supported that when it was put into the contract? Why don't you leave your "Living In Base Pilot Tent" and come on over to the big tent with the sign on it that says "Delta Pilots." WHY does everyone at DAL think like this? WHY do we have to GIVE UP anything for this???
That's like me voting down a contract that enhances health care for retirees since "I" am not retired. We need to stop thinking about "ME" (The Delta way evidently) and think about "US" Newknow.....I am on board with your FNWA ideas. Bring em on! Change is good (BTW - love the avatar...would love to see the band in concert) Exactly, i completely agree!!

Thanks Super & Fly Viking,
I think that was the first time I alluded to me being a Delta pilot, without the -N. Sometimes I learn from what I type. :D |
Any numbers on the PERP - rumor or otherwise?
